Pocket Folio You’re a Hoot

Standard

Hey there Peeps! Well I’m here today to admit that I have a problem. I am a chronic list writer. Any little scrap of paper is fair game to scribble on. Is the list the problem? Nope. Losing the lists is the problem. When you write important information on something that looks like trash…..guess what’s gonna happen? Yep you got it…lost lists.  So I created a hardcover pocket folio to tuck in all those precious little scraps.

June Blog Hop with Really Reasonable Ribbon

Standard

Hey there Paper Peeps! It’s time again for another Blog Hop with Really Reasonable Ribbon. Don’t you just love a hop???? So much great inspiration in one place!!!!!

10308279_717292838322738_8108547784177054821_nThe Design Team and I are sharing our projects that we created featuring the fabulous selection of ribbons in the Ladybugs and Butterflies June Ribbon Club Assortment.

ribbonclubjune2014lge_2014You should be coming to me from the Really Reasonable Ribbons Ramblings Blog. That’s the first stop in the hop…so make sure to start at the beginning….you don’t want to miss a single thing!

IMG_3561My project started with a purchased notebook. I covered it in layers of pretty patterned papers, vintage images, Really Reasonable Ribbons, and a fabulous flower made for me by my extra awesome friend Anna. This ribbon selection is so bright and cheerful and whimsical! I just love it…and it matches the Bohemian Bazaar Papers from Graphic 45!!!

IMG_3562This little notebook had lots of spirals on the binding so I could really load it up with the ribbon….after all….more is better right?

IMG_3563I used these ribbons for my binding…..

Okay…the next stop in the hop is the lovely and talented Carolyn.

Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

A little Thank You Gifty

Standard

As many of you know….our family just celebrated my oldest Son’s graduation and  Boy Scout  Eagle Rank Advancement….it’s been a super busy month getting everything ready for parties and out of town guests. I couldn’t have done it without a little help from my friends!!! Namely my beautiful Mother who flew in from Texas to work her little tail off….cooking for days : ) And to my Bestest best friend Heather for all she did to help…and for making my favorite ramen noodle salad. I made this little notebook for her in her favorite orange…it’s bright and cheerful…..just like her : )

IMG_1720

I added a strip of  Natural Faux Burlap. Then I layered on the Orange Wrinkle Ribbon.

IMG_1721

There’s also some sweet little chipboard flowers and a tiny blue butterfly. I couldn’t  resist adding the coordinating orange buttons…I know Heather will love them : )

IMG_1723

The top of the jar image needed a little somthin somthin….so I dressed it with a bit of the new Lyndsey Crocheted Lace...nipped in to fit the contour of the jar.

I hope Heather will find lot’s of things she wants to write about in this little journal…or maybe just for grocery lists??? LOL Thanks again Heather for all you did to help make our big day even more special. We love you millions!!!! And just for a quick proud Mom moment….my little boy just graduated Magna Cum Laude and got a nearly full ride scholarship to Eastern University Honor’s College to study computer engineering. Who’s a proud Mom??? This girl !!!! LOL

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

Sweet Spiral Mini

Standard

Here is super sweet tiny scrapbook that would be the perfect little brag book…just big enough for a good sized wallet photo and room to journal your special memories.  And in case you’re wondering if I used the entire package of die cut images on this project…….yup! I clearly need supervision from a more responsible adult. I used lovely trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon to finish off this mini…pretty enough to give as a gift….as long as you fill it with pic of the kiddos first!

IMG_1631

So this mini started with a base of a small spiral notebook. I added loads of paper layers and those die cuts I mentioned above. I added the Juliet lace to the top to make it more vintagy. And tied with coordinating ribbon trim.

2013-06-042013-06-0412013-06-042

As you can see…all the pages are similar…but different. I sandwiched 10 sheets of the notebook paper between each finished page…so it’s surprisingly sturdy and chunky. This would be a great way to use up scraps!!!!! I would recommend keeping the embellishing to just paper layers for the inside…as it does get a bit bulky.

I hope this inspires you to create your own mini brag book….and gift it to someone special : )

I also hope you all have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative. : ) G

With Reckless Abandon

Standard

My usual creative style is to have every little element thought out ….inked, stamped, layered, and then it’s ready to assemble. Yesterday I had an afternoon of less structured crafting. I glued without planning, inked without analyzing, trimmed with enthusiasm, and stamped with reckless abandon. It’s a sweet little album…or is it a journal??? Not quite sure yet.

IMG_1341I used some very large old flash cards for my base. They were covered with Sesame Street patterns…not quite vintage yet. The inspiration was a beautiful tag from Ephemera’s Vintage Garden.  There are several in the book. Some of them I Stickled…some of them I trimmed out of larger images. I think they are very shabby chic. I also Stickled the large stamped frames.

IMG_1334Inside the book is a mish mash of different pages….and tag flaps. I embellished with butterflies, and words. The beautiful yummy ribbon is cream seam binding from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I’m so glad I created the vintage image organizer from last weeks post….finding all the right images was a snap.

IMG_1335This will be a nice place to add a picture or memento.

IMG_1336As you can see…I’ve used Tissue Tape to attach the pages. I wasn’t confident that it would hold up to lot’s of handling…so I peeled it up and added a layer of Scor-Tape. Can’t even see it. Now this little book will be extra sturdy.

IMG_1337This set of pages has a craft paper envelope to be filled with loads of paperie goodies or pictures.

IMG_1338IMG_1339IMG_1340

So that’s what I get for a day of free form creating. I kinda love how it turned out : ) It will look even better filled with pics and journaling. Maybe I’m on a roll? We’ll see when I get to the shop. I should mention that the workspace in the shop is a complete disaster : / Is that normal for reckless crafting???

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive and reckless day and find some time to be creative : ) G

Shabby Chic Calendar

Standard

The best projects to create are both pretty and functional. Calendars can totally be both! And why not? You’re going to be looking at it all year right? I made this calendar thinking that it could be left out on a desk.

IMG_0640Pretty pretty vintage bird image layered with French post cards, tattered edge book pages, buttons and Juliet Natural Lace trim from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

2013-01-043IMG_0643-001I added glassine pockets to hold tags. Keeping track of important dates will be a cinch.

IMG_0646These great little calendar cards are blank…so my calendar is ready to start whenever I’m ready to fill it in.

IMG_0648The tattered book pages give it fabulous texture and the tabbed dividers will make it super handy to flip right to the month I need : )

I hope you have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

Paris with Bird Junk Journal

Standard

Here’s another sweet little junk journal I created. I’m having lot’s of fun layering pretty patterned papers and vintage images. Also there’s a ton of texture on the edges. I may have gone a bit overboard on the pages this time…it’s pretty chunky already without adding all the goodies. But the trade off os that there is plenty of room for pics and journaling! I added my new fav trim from Really Reasonable Ribbon to the cover…it matches the shabby chic feel perfectly. And fun little pages made from an antique law book.

I collaged the pictures since there were so many. Click on them to enlarge them to get a better closeup.

IMG_0619IMG_06502013-01-0422013-01-0412013-01-04

I am loving the tabbed dividers. What a great way to keep your memories organized! This little book is also super heavy with all the layers. I’m going to make another like this if I ever get to visit Paris.

Check back to tomorrow…I’ve got a sweet little vintagy calendar to share.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

Vintage mini in blue….

Standard

Here’s another blue color schemed inspired Christmas project I created last week. I really love a mini album for holidays since it’s easy to fill with holiday pics and memories, and you can display them year after year as part of your Christmas decor.

IMG_0258I knew I was going to add a lot of layers…so I started this mini with a hard cover craft brown base….then piled on all the goodies. The blue and brown create a very vintage feel and coordinated well with the die cuts. I anchored the bottom corner of the book with a lovely bow created with trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I also added 2 generous strips of Natural Burlap with Teal accent. I just love how it pulls the eye to the center of the book and helps to make the die cuts look more grand.

IMG_0259Layering is the trick for vintage inspired projects…and I’ve done that here by adding the die cuts to a craft piece that I crimped and inked the centered over a glittery snowflake and doily. This also adds a wonderful texture. I added a tiny charm and tag to the corner with a Tim Holtz clip for a little sparkle. I choose to use large chipboard letters for the sentiment.

IMG_0262IMG_0261IMG_0260I left the inside of the book relatively simple to allow for larger pictures and journaling.

The rings also unclip to add holiday memorabilia like play bills, church programs, and anything you picked up during the season that involved your family and friends and important Christmas traditions.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative. G

Post for Really Reasonable Ribbon and RRR Prize Winner Announcement

Standard

Another exciting day to share one of my projects on Really Reasonable Ribbon’s Ramblings. This time it’s a Chunky Halloween board book.

I used layers and layers of papers and chipboard stickers from My Mind’s Eye, and some  vintage

images of spooky sweet skeletons and bingo cards. These fabulous trims  from Really Reasonable Ribbon finish off the book perfectly! The different ribbons add a wonderful texture. I found all these trims in the Halloween section .

Each set of pages has a different but coordinating theme. Using common elements like the inked doily

bingo card, and craft tag on every set of pages help to keep this book from going over the top.

There are a lot of patterns here….but I mixed up the scale of the prints and gave them a solid black border.

The pages on the left side have lots of room for pictures and journaling.

This book would be a great addition to holiday decor and will certainly be admired year after year.

I did mention this book is chunky right? lol. I just love that laser cut fence from Dusty Attic with the chipboard banner on top.

Funnest Halloween paper patterns ever!!! Look at all that yummy trim : )

I can’t believe I have only one more project to share for being Guest Designer for August for Really Reasonable Ribbon. This month sure has flown by. My next post for RRR is a fabulous tutorial that I can’t wait to share. You are gonna love it!

Okay…for my last bit of business today I’m announcing the winner of the great gift certificate to have a little shopping spree on me at Really Reasonable Ribbon. ( I suggest you check out the Halloween section!) This time around I got D.H. Kenny to pick the lucky comment number out of the prize bucket : )

Hop on over to RRR to see the name of the lucky winner!!!!!

Thanks to everyone who played along and to Bonnie for helping me set up the coupon code and for chipping in to help make the prize awesome!

Vintage Inspired Halloween Notebook

Standard

I had to  pull out all the Halloween goodies to recreate the Halloween house from a previous post for a second customer so while I had all the supplies at hand I thought I’d whip up a great little notebook : )

It’s so much fun to layer on all the yummy little bits and pieces! Isn’t that RRR trim just the best????

Can’t wait to get to the shop today to stock out a big box of paper goodies that came in yesterday! You know it will be like 30 seconds before I have to have some of it for myself to play paper with!
