Hey there Paper Peeps! I’m just dropping in to share a fun and easy tutorial to whip up some great little flower, lace, and burlap scarf pins. These make great little gifts for Mother’s Day too! Make up a bunch of these cuties to have on hand and you’ll be ready with a thoughtful handmade gift whenever you need one. Did I mention they’re easy????
Isn’t that shabbylicious??? I think it would be pretty cute on a hat too!!!
Okay lets get started…..
I have 9 artificial fabric flowers….nothing to write home about….but I like the size and shape. I used my blending tool and Victorian Velvet Distress Ink to give them some color. Next I added some Liquid Pearls in Bisque to the outer edges. While it was still wet…I sprinkled on Martha Stewart fine clear glitter. You can also add a little Walnut or Gathered Twig Ink to antique it like I did in the finished pin. You will also need some flower stamens….these I found in the cake decorating section. I layered three flowers and added three stamens to the center of each.
Cut a circle from chipboard or other stiff backing material. I used an antique file folder since they are very thick and sturdy. Pierce a hole in the center. Trim Burlap from the wired edge and cut a scalloped shape on one side. Pinch pleat and hot glue the burlap around making sure to cover the outside edge of the circle. Add a layer of Crocheted Lace trim next pinch pleating the same as you did with the burlap. This took 2 layers of each for the size of circle and flowers I chose….you may like more or less layers.
Begin pulling the stamens from the flowers through the center hole of the chipboard circle. You’ll want to add all three flowers before you secure the stamens on the back.
I just squished the stamens into slightly cooled hot glue….still hurt : ( You could also use a wet adhesive like E 6000 if you’re squeamish about burning yourself. Add the pin back now. I found them at the big box craft store…very inexpensive for a fairly large package. These came with an adhesive strip….but I don’t trust that adhesive….so I added hot glue before securing it to the pin.
Once you have everything secured….give the burlap a little haircut to remove any stray stringy bits and be sure to check for glue strings before gifting it to someone special : )
Okay I hope I’ve inspired you to create lot’s of these to give to brighten someones day! I’m wishing you a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G
A special friend gave me a very unexpected and generous gift last week. I was so moved by the surprise. I created this card for her to thank her for her kindness…I just love her so much!!!!!
I gathered lot’s of shabby inspired papers and stitched them up to create a base for some festive Christmas trimmings.
I layered on a pretty poofy bow made from Chevron Striped Pink Twill from Really Reasonable Ribbon, topped off with a sparkly jingle bell, a chipboard tag, and a thank you tag with a vintage button. Isn’t that snowman charming????
Fun snowflake trim stitched over Amelia White Crocheted Lace across the bottom of the card is a nice girly accent. Last but not least there’s a painted, and inked and glittered paper rosette topped off a chipboard star and another vintage button.
I cannot thank her enough for thinking of me this time of year : ) Such a blessing to have such wonderful friends : )
I hope you all are enjoying your holidays so far and spending time with your loved ones : )
The cooler weather is getting me in the holiday mood here in lower Michigan. I’m getting all set to create lot’s of cards tags and projects for my family and friends and I can wait to use the tags from my new collage sheet : ) I might even make some great Christmas ornaments for my tree…..like I don’t already have a ton of ornaments lol….more is better though right????
If you’d like a sheet of your own to create fabulous holiday projects….just click HERE. And if you make something wonderful…..please email a picture of your creation.. I would love to see them! Many of the images I used to create this collage sheet are from Graphic’s Fairy.
I’m off now to get caught up on kit’s and watch some Lion’s football! I hope you all have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G
I’ve got two fabulous things to share today…one a surprise gift I got a few weeks ago from a super talented and super sweet new friend from Florida. And the other is a new freebie printable.
Jeanne Marie sent me this beautiful vintagy Halloween cone that she embellished and filled with goodies and treats : ) She is so generous I just had to share my gifty with everyone. Let me start out by saying…..cones are not so very easy to get pics of : / So there are lot’s of pics so I can capture the details.
She added layered paper rosettes and fun fringy trims. Can you see all the inking she did on the metal cone? Fabulous!
Not sure yet whats in this package…it’s too cute to open. I love that black glitter on the paper rosette.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Jeanne Marie for this wonderful surprise…it’s become a cherished part of my holiday decor…and I’ll be thinking of you every year when I decorate my home for the holidays : )
Last but not least….here’s another freebie printable from me to you. I kinda love it…I hope you do too!
Still haven’t got the in house IT dept to show me how to turn these into a jpeg…so for now you can just right click on it and save it to a file to print. For personal use only please….do not reproduce this image for items you intend to sell or add it to a digital collage sheet. That would make me sad : ( many of the elements here are from Graphic’s Fairy.
Okay…that‘s it for me….I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative.
I’ve whipped up another collage sheet this week with some fabulous tags for the 12 days of Christmas. They’re all in a vintage style and have adorable children on postal tags, holly, and fancy numbers. I can just see these strung all together and made into a festive banner for your mantle. Or for any type of paper crafting like cards, scrapbooking, or tags. Use them to label a handmade goody or as the perfect gift tag for a special gift.
They are available for instant dowload by clicking HERE.
I can’t wait to get to the shop and make something fabulous out of mine!!!!
Last week I created this collage sheet:
