Celebrate Your Independence Greeting Card

Standard

Well hello there friends and crafty peeps! Happy Sunday you all. I’m in the full swing of preparing for the summer holiday season and adding GSL chippies to my projects takes them to a whole nother level of awesome!

This is very Americana inspired with loads of fun and festive embellishments!

The window frame is topped with stars and flowers and added a layer of velum for a frosted look.

The altered stars really help to fill in the arrangements. I’ve also tucked in some metal flourishes and epoxy topped stickers.

The window has a crackle finish for a very vintagy look.

More flowers and stars for this corner and a scattering of sequins for a bit of sparkle.

a little printed burlap tucked under the sentiment and a fussy cut bunting to finish off this oh so patriotic card!

I wiped the chippie off to prepare it for finishing then applied a coat of chocolaty brown acrylic paint and let dry.

Next I added a layer of crackle medium and allowed that to dry also. Last but not least was applying a coat of white paint being careful not to brush too much and disturb the crackles.

The stars are easy peasy to finish with metallic silver paint.  On the finished project I added a bit of Stickles to the stars for accent.

A Stitch in Time Sewing Banner for Authentique with Tutorial

Standard

Hello there friends and happy Friday to all of you! It’s a very special holiday week as we’re celebrating all things Mom. I can’t think of a better way to let her know you’re thinking of her than by creating a very special gift handmade by you. It’s only a few days away but there’s still time to whip up something for that wonderful person you call Mom.  I created this banner with the gorgeous Stitches Collection to be super easy to replicate simply by following a few easy steps.

A Stitch in Time Sewing Banner Polly's Paper Studio 01

Even if your Mom isn’t into sewing it’s still so chock full of vintagy detail that it will be perfect for her to display and enjoy and think of you.

A Stitch in Time Sewing Banner Polly's Paper Studio 02

I’ve layered up the patterned papers and added a few extra fun embellishments and vintage lace.

A Stitch in Time Sewing Banner Polly's Paper Studio 04

This lovely collection has loads of journal cards and cut aparts so you can mix and match them to create similar but different combinations.

A Stitch in Time Sewing Banner Polly's Paper Studio 03

Don’t forget to utilize the sticker sheet as it has wonderful little sentiments and tags you can layer on for added detail.

Okay here’s an easy peasy tutorial on how I created the banner sections

Clip a banner shape using the patterned papers. I’m working with a 4 x 6 inch piece then cut a dovetail in the bottom to give it the iconic banner shape. Adhere it to solid cardstock and clip out leaving a 1/8 inch border. Top the banner with a strip of the companion plaid paper .  Next add lace. The one I used is vintage…but any trim will work perfectly.

Add a layer of the coordinating patterned paper.  To create a base for the cut aparts I’ve layered on one of the journal cards matted in the same pink cardstock.

A small die cut doily will look great for texture but also helps to break up the busy patterns.  Next add a cut apart matted for a consistent look.

Don’t forget the sticker sheet from the collection has loads of sweet sentiments. This one seems perfect for dear old Mom. Top off the cut apart with a few coordinating flowers.

This sewing themed embellishment is a chipboard shape that I finished off to look like a pair of scissors my Grandma had. That is sure to bring back special memories! Using a cropodile I added metal eyelets to the top so I could wind the ribbon through. I selected a few of the cut aparts that looked just as nice on their side and clipped them into a tag shape. More holes are punched then the ribbon is strung through using an over under pattern to keep most of the ribbon bulk in the back.

For the outside banner sections I used the same layering process but added a few larger blooms and pearly headed stick pins.  Pearls are the perfect accent and look super sweet on the polka dot journal card. Poofy bows topped with twine and actual vintage buttons are added to the tops of the tags as my signature you can never have enough flowers or bows  policy. Last but not least the tags have coppery colored clips for a little shine. The two tags on the outside have an additional layer for dimension created with stickers from the collection popped up on adhesive spacers and adhered with twine looped through a coordinating eyelet. don’t forget to add more vintage buttons to the tag…..you can never have enough buttons!

Beautiful Sea Maiden Large Tag

Standard

Hello there and happy Sunday friends! I’m going a bit mixed media today with a nautical inspired large tag. I dug deep in the chippies and came out with so many great pieces to layer up. I’m using the gorgeous Sea Maiden collection from Authentique Papers and ribbons and trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Beautiful Sea Maiden Large Mixed Media Tag Polly's Paper Studio 01

I’m all about the texture that  the layering adds.

Beautiful Sea Maiden Large Mixed Media Tag Polly's Paper Studio 02

Alternating the finishes also adds loads of detail.  Some are glittery and some are super smooth.

Beautiful Sea Maiden Large Mixed Media Tag Polly's Paper Studio 03

I’m even using them to extend the flower arrangements.

Beautiful Sea Maiden Large Mixed Media Tag Polly's Paper Studio 04

You can add a metallic look by topping off the chippies with shiny embossing powder and heat setting them…now they look like little metal charms : )

Beautiful Sea Maiden Large Mixed Media Tag Polly's Paper Studio 05

Taking advantage of gaps in the chippie layers I’ve added Prills and sequins for a very pulled together look.
I’ve selected beachy themed chippies and flourishes here to start the arrangement.  Wiping them down with a soft cloth is a great way to prepare the surfaces for their final finishes.  I’ve used embossing powders to maintain a super clean crisp edge.

I couldn’t help myself but add a few more to the mix. Those bronze colored waves are really taking the nautical theme to another level!!!

Hello there and happy Friday friends! I hope you all have some fun weekend plans…or maybe just relaxing and enjoying the nice weather. Now that we are out of the snow zone we’ve been enjoying our patio with a fire pit and the sounds of the spring peepers in the big pond. Country life is pretty fabulous sometimes!  The card I’m sharing today is created with a tag from our new Ballerina Fairies Tags Digital Collage Sheet.

The tags are a nice combination of vintage and grunge and girlie. Printed in the original size the tags are just perfect for larger card like this 6 x 6 inch card base.

I got into my most favoritist stash of My Mind’s Eye papers to find a lovely match for the tag…I’m a little sad to not have the patterns anymore….but it did make a nice card so that makes me happy.

A chippie frame from GSL Cuts is the perfect backdrop for the tag finished in a bit of a sparkly embossing powder then topped with a bit of flat white paint to tone down the shiny.
