Crazy Cat Lady Haunted House Collage

Okay I admit it. I’m one of those crazy cat ladies you hear about.  I mean it’s not like we’re outnumbered or anything. We have an equal pet to people balance. But if my youngest who is in college now decided to move onto campus…well….he’ll have to take one of the cats with him lol.
I created this collage inspired by haunted houses.

It may have turned out more cute than spooky.  I like it either way.

I didn’t plan ahead enough to order the actual chippie shingles…so I had to create these out of paper. My advice is order the chippies!!!!! You will thank me later. They look much better and are far less work.

Also I thought for sure I had a door????? Once I was in there was no turning back so I used this arch top window as a substitute and added some faux boards across to give it the look of an abandoned house.  The fence is given a crackle finish to give the appearance of age.

Creepy little spiders and webs are the perfect Halloweeny detail and a bit of old moss to emulate once homey flowers turned withered and old.

First I decided on the lay out of  the chippies from the Gingerbread House Mini Album Kit and mixed in Halloween elements.

Paper with a brick print was added to the background and snipped out then inked with chalk ink to take the brightness down.

The shingles are created with papers clipped with a scallop edged scissor  then inked and a fine line drawn on.

Once I had the shingles adhered to the base I decided to snip off what would have been icicles on the roof section.

I finished the spiderwebs with a Pitt Pen in black.

The window and door frame are painted in flat white acrylic. The shutters were finished with the Pitt pen. I was concerned the heart cut out was just a bit too cute so I snipped it off. This made the shutter too short. No trouble …I just stacked 2 to get the correct height.

To age the window and door frames they are given a pounce with the chalk ink.

The windows have a layer of velum and printed paper adhered behind and a bit of detail added to the front with a gray alcohol ink pen.

Wishing all of you a happy and productive day : ) G

Halloween Stand Display with Petaloo and Crafty Secrets

Hey there peeps! Happy Saturday to you all! I’m just dropping in to share a fun Halloween Stand Display I created with the Crafty Secrets Creating With Vintage Halloween CD.

Halloween Stand Display 1Not conventional Halloween colors….but it sure has a festive holiday vibe.

Halloween Stand Display 2I added the pumpkin face image to a sweet little scalloped tin then created a “wreath” with black netting ribbon and loads of Petaloo flowers and berry picks.

Halloween Stand Display 3Can’t go wrong with Black Plaid ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon for a generous loopy bow. I also tucked in some  Antique Gold Burlap String bows to break up the dark colors and to match the flowers.

Halloween Stand Display 4For additional detail I printed the tag sheet from the cd extra tiny and joined them to make a fun banner shape then worked it around and under the wreath.

Halloween Stand Display 5To give the image a nice finished edge I topped it off with Tim Holtz black tinsel trim.

Funny story about this project I think we can all relate to. As crafters we are always on the look out for great bases to start our projects with. We have a local discount store that I peruse occasionally to find unique shapes or objects I can layer up with paper and trimmings. Such is the case with this nice wooden stand. So I listed the project in the online shop and it sold right away to one of my fav peeps. In my efforts to locate a box I could ship it in…I neglected to take the sticker from the discount store off the back. Boy is she gonna get a laugh when she sees it. But hey…it happens to all of us and we learn everyday…so the moral of the story is…make fabulous art….but remember to check for stickers before you ship sold items lol.

Okay that’s all for me…wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

Fall Harvest Creativity Kit and Projects

Hey there Paper Peeps! I’ve been working on some new creativity kits. Always fun to have new paper and images to work with. With all the back to school goings on..I’m in the mood to work on fall projects. Not that I want the time to go any faster….it’s already hard to keep up with all the sport and scout activities. I’ve been playing with warmer colors and more richly patterned papers. And of course Fall images.   We are vegan…so I’m not using any images of cooked turkeys… but there are great Thanksgiving images. Makes me think of apple cider and pumpkin pie and cool crisp air. Here are the projects I created with the Fall Harvest Creativity Kit

fall harvest Creativity Kit 2I am having so much fun making these house tags.

fall harvest Creativity Kit 3Another tag and a treat box. Someone asked me what the little pumpkins were when I posted the Vintage Halloween Kit….they are from a bag of potpourri…I think they are little gourdes…but they look like pumpkins to me : )

fall harvest Creativity Kit 5A Thankful wall hanger with rolled ribbon flowers in olive green to match the ribbon.  A very shabby chic Thanksgiving card.

fall harvest Creativity Kit 4Oh course I can’t resist making cards too.

I created these 8 projects with the items from the kit and bits and pieces from my scrap and salvage box.  I have several images leftover and lots of paper to mix and match….so I be sharing more projects from the kit soon. You can find the Fall Harvest Creativity Kit Here. Okay that’s all for me…we’re off to town to pick up a few supplies to work on the lil camper today..hopefully it won’t rain. Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

I Love Paris Card

Good morning all. I’m dropping in this morning to share a card a created with a variety of patterned papers and an image from my Paris Cards Digital Images Collage.

I Love Paris with Daisies Card 1I took the color inspiration from the tag with the yellow from the daisy and the dark border.  With the tonic edger I gave it a really grungy distressed edge. The honeycomb embossed tag was a leftover scrap from another project….score!!!! I just added a dark circle of cardstock and a eyelet. Gotta love when you can work with scraps. I found that little wonder button on a fun shopping-dinner trip I took with my fav Vintage Chicks and I’ve been dying to use it.

I Love Paris with Daisies Card 2These super gorgeous flowers are from Petaloo and the Ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon Yellow Double Faced Satin. I did Ink it quite a bit to create an aged look.

I Love Paris with Daisies Card 3Papers are a mash up of Webster’s Pages and My Mind’s Eye.

Paris Cards Digital Image Collage are available for instant download : )
