Shabby Chic Christmas Wall Hanging Holiday Home Decor

Standard

Hey there Chrsitmas Peeps! I’m sharing a very sweet and shabby chic inspired Christmas wall hanging using Carousel Christmas from BoBunny. Not gonna lie..I kinda love it!

Jingle Bells Shabby Chic Christmas Wall Hanging Ginny Nemchak BoBunny Carousel Christmas

I just think Carousel Christmas is the dreamiest holiday collection.

I started this project thinking I wanted to create a shadow box styled ornament with painted mason jar lid…but before I knew it I had a wall hanging in front of me.

The lid is finished with a coat of Gesso then filled in with festive images and accented with faux snow for a frosty look.

Additional images are fussy cut and layered on with spacers for nice dimension. I’ve added a tinsel hanger and coordinating bows to hang.

The chipboard snowflakes are also finished with the Gesso then top coated with Glitter paste….because every shabby chic wall hanging needs pink sparkly snowflakes.

You can see the dimension I was able to get by adhering the elements with foam spacers between the layers. There’s a bit of the die cut doily peeking out here and I think it adds texture as well as a visual break from the patterned papers.

Sand on the Seashore Shadow Box for Lindsey

Standard

Hey there Paper Peeps! Ginny here with an extra special project I created as a gift for my Daughter in Law for her Birthday. The story behind this project is our first vacation we took all together after she joined our family. We went on holiday to the beach as we do for Christmas and had a wonderful time. She and I happened into a craft store and she found a little package of glass bottles and she mentioned how much she liked them. A light bulb went off and I decided right then and there to create a shadowbox for her and include a tiny bottle filled with sand from the beach from our first family trip.

I altered many chippies to embellish a recycled candy box to create the shadow box.

There’s the little jar of sand. I wrapped a bit of twine around it and added some tiny key charms.
A vintage jewelry finding was layered onto the altered chipboard for accent.

Loads of flowers to coordinate with the beachy color scheme and to disguise the structure holding the tiny sand jar. There’s a printed bible verse in the frame with a lovely sentiment to let her know how much we love her.

I created faux netting by spraying cheese cloth then twisting it in and around the flowers and inside the box.  A few little loops of roping completes the nautical embellishing.

1. Wipe down the chippies to prepare them to be altered. 2. The base is finished with a layer of flat white acrylic paint and the flourish pieces are dabbed with Distress Paint in Peacock Feathers. 3. I’m incorporating the portion of the chippies that would usually be discarded to create the front opening of the box. It’s been finished with the Distress Paint  and the snipped Deco Frame pieces are also. Using 3D Matt I adhered the flourish pieces to the frame base and allowed it to set. 4. The Deco Frame pieces are added to the box front and ready to attach to the candy box. I filled in the frame with Sugar Glitter Paste then sprinkled in 3D Powder and Micro Beads. This took quite a while to dry but well worth it!

A generous coat of Glitter Paste tops off the frame. I decided to grunge up the sides just a bit too which you can see in the finished pictures : )

Gypsy Soul Chippes~Deco Frames 6 Inch, Doodle Frame Rectangle.

Flowers from Petaloo~Botanica Magnolia Mix Blue/ Green, Mixed Textured Elements Teal, Burlap Poinsettia Teal, Botanica Vintage Velvet Mini White.

Okay that’s all for me. Wishing everyone a happy and productive day : ) G

Spring Bird House Shadow Box

Standard

Hey Peeps I’m dropping in to share a sweet little shadow box that I created with charming little bird houses and loads of spring flowers.

Spring Bird House Shadow Box

Spring Birdhouse Shadow Box Polly's paper Studio 01

This stand alone shadow box would look just perfect with an Easter bunny but can be displayed all season long as it’s not too ” Eastery”.

Spring Birdhouse Shadow Box Polly's paper Studio 02

This little chipboard shadow box is deep enough to adhere the birdhouses inside at different depths for a nice dimensional look. I’ve painted it in a gorgeous spring green  to show off the flourishes and birdhouses.

I’ve selected blooms in bright cheerful colors and created a nice balance by adding some to the top and bottom of the shadowbox.

I’ve chosen a nice selection of pinks, green and white flowers and tucked in some speckled eggs. The birdhouse in the back also has a sweet little nest to welcome birds and make them feel at home.

To add a bit of softness to the hard edge of the roof line I incorporated some cheesecloth. It also helps to fill in the arrangement.

Okay that’s all for me. Whishing you all a happy and productive day.

Voyage Beneath The Sea Shadow Box

Standard

I’ve never dreamed of tiny men riding fish under the sea….but if I did I hope it would look like this!  It’s all a little dreamy and surrealistic. This mixed media box really tells a story of under the sea with whimsical characters and dreamy colors. Loads of textures to give the impression of fish scales, nets, and bubbles. Voyage beneath the sea has really turned into  a favorite paper line.

Steampunk Spells Shadow Box Collage

Standard

Hello there Peeps! I’m just as excited as I can be because I get to share a project that’s been under wraps for a while and today is the big day! I am normally the card maker but I also really love to create shadow boxes and altered art…so here is my take on a Steampunk Spells Shadow Box! Our assignment from Graphic 45 was to choose 3 Core’dinations Cardstock colors and be inspired a  G45  paper collection. I chose Bon Voyage, Photogenic, and Sweet Apricot.SPS Collage 1

I had so much fun working on this collage. It was quite a challenge in our little small town to find steampunk accents…so I had to create my own. I made the wheels out of plastic washers, the little knobs you add to the bottom of furniture legs, tiny gears and brads then painted them with metallic nail polish. The hardware store had a nice variety of bit and pieces that I painted to match.

SPS Collage2The main base is the 12×12 matchbook box and I added a second matchbook box to the corner for depth. I added loads of chipboard and fussy cut flowers as well as a vintage key and a lamp knob to make it look like an antique pull toy.

SPS Collage 3More chippies and tags for this corner…and more gears and washers.  This was a great way to anchor the corner and add a banner.

SPS Collage 4This little “bookshelf” is actually a super tiny chest of drawers found at a local discount store….I just removed the drawers and painted it black then layered on the fabulous paper patterns. I used the stamps to look like family photos in a bookshelf. More wheels here and some painted metal furniture corners.

SPS Collage 5Here are those drawers….used to hold more paper pretties. I think the add balance to the collage.

SPS Collage 1Inside there’s elebenty hundred layers of images, chippies, fussy cut flowers, dimensional balloons and tags. I really love how this turned out and it will be joining my favorite Halloween decor as the centerpiece of my mantle display!

French Country Shadow Box Collage with Graphic 45

Standard

Good morning Paper Peeps!  I hope you are enjoying your holiday so far….I know my kiddos have enjoyed having Spring Break the week before Easter! The weather is finally showing some signs of warming up and the grass is starting to get green….now if only the leaves on the trees would come out : ) I’m dropping in this morning before I head to the shop to share a shadow box collage I created yesterday. I am cra-zy over making shadow boxes now!!!

IMG_3292I used French Country patterned papers from Graphic 45 as well as some beautiful clock images from A Proper Gentleman. The box itself is 10×10 and I had so much fun layering in all the fussy cut images…and of course there is like elebenty hundred foam spacers so I could build in a lot of depth.

IMG_3293These colors are so warm and sunny. I used the clocks and the sunflowers to anchor the bottom corners. It never ceases to amaze me how well the papers from different lines coordinate so you can mix and match them to make your projects very unique.

IMG_3294

I added a striped scallop border to the box then layered on the border strip that came on the sheet. It suited my project better to arrange the stripes in a different order…so I trimmed them out and flipped them around so I would have the dark edge up against the stripe to keep it from being pattern overload.

IMG_3295

I am crazy about how this clock turned out.  I added some inked Dusty Attic chippies the layered on more of the sunflowers and leaves and clocks.

IMG_3296

All along the top of the box I layered in fussy cut images with tags and more of the foam spacers. There are also lots of cricut cut scrollys that I worked in.  To finish off this corner….a sweet banner hangs from Licorice Bakers Twine from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

IMG_3297I cut doubles on the stamp images so I could add an extra spacer and roll up the corners.

IMG_3298This shadow box is very very very very dimensional! This has become my new favorite project : )

Okay…that’s all for me today…gotta get to the shop to see what kinda trouble I can get into! Wishing you all a happy and productive day and lot’s of time to be creative : ) G

Little Big Top Circus Shadow Box for Class

Standard

Hey there Paper Peeps and happy Saturday! I’m just hopping in to share the project the girlies and I will be working on in class next week.  After our last class I asked them what they wanted to work on next and they said circus…and I’m all no really…what do you want …and they said circus…whaaaa????   Okay I’m up for that challenge. I’m still in collage mode..and a little still in steampunk mode so here is my Little Big Top Circus Shadow Box. It’s very vintagy!!!!!

IMG_3253I kinda love how it turned out!!!!!  Yes I know it’s not my usual shabby chic….but hey I can work outside of the box….shadow box that is!!! I was inspired by vintage circus toys. I used Graphic 45 papers, vintage images and some Oyster Bakers Twine from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

IMG_3254This little guy is so cute. I added a gizmo to wind him up….and a big bunch of balloons.

 IMG_3255

This character was not originally a pull toy…so I just punched the center out of some gear images to use as wheels.

IMG_3256

What’s a circus without a big top? I added quite a few layers of vintagy goodness here.  There’s a sweet little banner on twine, a top hat, tickets and a glittery star. I did appeal to my crafty friends to help me make these stars….but no takers : ( I wound up gluing my arm to the table! See what happens when I am left unsupervised with adhesives?

IMG_3257

I added the checkerboard strips to the outside to dress up the edges.

Okay…that’s it for my Little Big Top Circus Shadow Box. I’m off to the shop to finish up a couple of DT projects and prep for class. I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G
