Little Birdie Christmas Greeting Card

Standard

Hey there Peeps! Well I had the best of intentions to share a Christmasy project everyday for Christmas in July….but our life is crazy busy right now and I’m just not really keeping up my post schedule that I had hoped for. I am however keeping up creating the projects so I’ll try to get caught up.

I got out the stamps and markers for this card and colored a sweet little birdy to sing a Christmas tune. I’m using Crafter’s Companion stamps and Spectrum Noir Markers. I added a bit of Wink of Stella but it’s difficult to see it in pictures.

The stamping around the edge is from BoBunny and it’s creates a bit of a border. I  didn’t have quite enough room for a sentiment…but this works great! Pretty flowers from Petaloo and some sequins to add detail.

Isn’t that a pretty frame? I added some coordinating embossing powder to a Flourished Circle Frame chippie and heat set it for a sparkly finish.  WOC Craft Berry Bead Sprays are tucked into the flowers to create a bit of a nest for the little bird. Last but not least…Checkerboard Satin in Tropic for a simple bow.

Okay that’s all for me. Wishing everyone a happy and productive day : ) G

Spring Bird Card for Petaloo

Standard

Hey there  Peeps!  Ginny here to share a very springy and just a little bit vintage and shabby all occasion greeting card.  The inspiration was a lovely bird image with coordinating pattern papers that just called out to have a garden of flowers added to accent it.

I just love the soft pinks and wood grain together. I added a white die cut doily to brighten it up just a bit.

Multiple layers of matting helps to separate the patterned papers and provide a sturdy base to add oodles of gorgeous flowers.

Petaloo has so many lovely flowers that it’s very easy and fun to match up blooms to your projects.

Tucked in under more flowers at the top is a sweet little bird nest charm with pearly accents because cards need a little bling to be extra awesome.

Since this card turned out to have such a lovely nature inspired look I added a bow created with burlap and a little border of pink lace.

When in Doubt Wing It Art Canvas

Standard

Hey Peeps! I’m sharing great little art canvas today that just flat out reminds me that you gotta keep moving forward even if you have to pretend you know what you’re doing.  Which is me pretty much most of the time lol.

Isn’t this just so sweet? I’ve hung on to this little bird image for a while waiting for just the right project and I’m so glad I did.  Love her little crown : )

There’s perfectly coordinated flowers here with twine and berries mixed in to make a lovely little arrangement.

Altered chipboard creates the base and I’ve added real vintage buttons, a metal flourish and of course a poofy bow.

This is canvas stretched on a wood frame so it’s quite dimensional. I’ve wrapped the  ribbon around to give the edges a nice finished look.

Cardinal Christmas Greeting Card

Standard

Hey there peeps! Time again for me to share a project I created with the fabulous dies from Cheery Lynn!  I’ve got a pretty Winter Bird Tag image with natural fibers, poinsettias and leaves and a perfect sentiment to bring a little joy to the holiday.  This card is 5 x 6 1/2 inches so there’s lots of room to layer up the paper patterns.

I cut the poinsettias, gave them a little inking, stamped some text, shaped and added glitter and “snow” for a proper frosty look. Tucking in a little seam binding helps to fill in the arrangement and anchor the corner.

This beautiful image is 1 of 9 tags from my new Winter Birds Christmas Tag Digital Collage Sheet. Perfect to bring a bit of nature to your Christmas crafting for cards, larger tags, labels or to create a sweet banner. Adding the sentiment over one of the flowers helps add depth. More flourishes and another smaller bloom balance the card without hiding the focal image.

Joy Bird Greeting Card

Standard

Hey there Paper Peeps! Dropping in today to share what I think may be my favorite GSL project so far. I love everything about it like the birds and the colors and layers!

I used a makeup applicator to pounce on many different acrylic paint colors and added some cinnamon Stickles once it was dry. Both of the larger pieces got the same finishing treatment. For the Joy sentiment I just added a nice thick coat of Opal White Liquid Pearls. When it was mostly…but not quite all the way dry I smooshed it down with my finger to give it some texture.

I selected the paint colors to coordinate with the gorgeous fussy cut bird and background paper.

There are chipboard spacers between the layers for dimension and a bit of distressing with the Tonic edger.

These flowers in burlap were chosen specifically to not compete with the altered chippies.

I’m really thinking I should be calling this a mixed media piece instead of a card as it would look really lovely sitting on a mantle or shelf as a nature inspired home décor item.

Think Spring Challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon

Standard

Hello Peeps! There’s a great new challenge starting this morning at Really Reasonable Ribbon…”Think Spring” which I am doing a lot of…even if there is still a ton of snow on the ground here. We got to 50 degrees yesterday with lot’s of beautiful sunshine. After getting 8 inches of snow Wednesday…..it seemed like paradise!

IMG_3142I layered some pretty patterned papers, some natural  Jute Ribbon, and Blue Chevron Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon. I topped of the bow with some sweet little speckled eggs.

There’s lot’s of great inspiration from the Design Team for this challenge…..So stop on over HERE to view the other projects.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

Birds of a Feather

Standard

Thinking about spring coming has me in the mood for bird projects. Not that we don’t have plenty of birds during the winter lol.

IMG_1155I layered very natural colors here….with not much pattern. I used the bird image from Ephemera’s Vintage Garden’s Oval Songbird Tag sheet. There’s also a sweet little polka dot tag : )

IMG_1158There’s a bit of  Natural Burlap trim from Really reasonable Ribbon peeking out from behind the tag. I clipped the wired edge off and frayed it a bit for texture. More of the burlap trim is layered under Ivory Wrinkle Ribbon. I topped off the card with some Juliet Lace and vintage buttons.

IMG_1157Love this sweet little bow : )

IMG_1160Here’s a pretty little Mini Journal to go along with my bird theme. I trimmed and layered many EVG images to create a collage effect. Beautiful lace and trim accent and coordinate perfectly with the colorful bird images. Another tag is layered in there too ( at least the top half lol )

IMG_1162The inside pages have a very subtle pattern layered over craft brown cardstock. The pattern is light enough that you can add some pictures and write directly on the pages.

So that’s it for my birdie projects. I would have created one more….but I was too busy ordering enough of the new Graphic 45 papers to keep us  crafters in vintage heaven for a longgggggg time. That is if I don’t use it all up first. Challenge accepted lol.

I’ve added the Bird Card and Jouranl to the Etsy shop….as well as the Not too Pink Card and the Bride and Groom Card Set. Follow the links over to check out the details.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

Shabby Chic Calendar

Standard

The best projects to create are both pretty and functional. Calendars can totally be both! And why not? You’re going to be looking at it all year right? I made this calendar thinking that it could be left out on a desk.

IMG_0640Pretty pretty vintage bird image layered with French post cards, tattered edge book pages, buttons and Juliet Natural Lace trim from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

2013-01-043IMG_0643-001I added glassine pockets to hold tags. Keeping track of important dates will be a cinch.

IMG_0646These great little calendar cards are blank…so my calendar is ready to start whenever I’m ready to fill it in.

IMG_0648The tattered book pages give it fabulous texture and the tabbed dividers will make it super handy to flip right to the month I need : )

I hope you have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

Paris with Bird Junk Journal

Standard

Here’s another sweet little junk journal I created. I’m having lot’s of fun layering pretty patterned papers and vintage images. Also there’s a ton of texture on the edges. I may have gone a bit overboard on the pages this time…it’s pretty chunky already without adding all the goodies. But the trade off os that there is plenty of room for pics and journaling! I added my new fav trim from Really Reasonable Ribbon to the cover…it matches the shabby chic feel perfectly. And fun little pages made from an antique law book.

I collaged the pictures since there were so many. Click on them to enlarge them to get a better closeup.

IMG_0619IMG_06502013-01-0422013-01-0412013-01-04

I am loving the tabbed dividers. What a great way to keep your memories organized! This little book is also super heavy with all the layers. I’m going to make another like this if I ever get to visit Paris.

Check back to tomorrow…I’ve got a sweet little vintagy calendar to share.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G
