Halloween Lantern with Eerie Tale from Graphic 45

Standard

Hello there Paper Peeps! I’m very excited today to be sharing my first project using the Eerie Tale Collection from Graphic 45.  I know every time they come out with a new line…I’m all like “yep…that’s my favorite!” But this one is just so awesome!!! So I created a lantern….actually I found the lantern in my basement…..I create a box card and put it in the lantern then added lots of fun and festive details for a spooktacular project!

IMG_3368-001While I was creating the box card…I realized that the existing templates were not going to work…as this box needed to be a fair bit smaller and also the flaps had to be only half the size to open inside the lantern….so I had to do a little  math ( insert slasher music here) it took a few tries….but I did get one that would fit! My good friends Betty and Dawn were hanging with me in the shop so I took the liberty to bounce an idea off Betty…..she said it looked a little like a film strip……so I went with it! Thanks for the inspiration : ) I added more of the “film strips” to create a nice background with some of the postcard images and really fun glittery spiderwebs.

IMG_3371-001I dressed the top of the lantern with a few of the border strips…several stamp image….a lovely large pumpkin trimmed for the paper and a Beware banner. These paper pretties are layered in with fun findings from my stash like these little dimensional pumpkins that are actually just some pods from a potpouri pack.  I had a huge stem of the orange glittery flourishes…..these are the last little tidbits : ( I also added a die cut crow and paper rosette. Those super fabulous bows are made from Circus Dots Ribbon in black from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

IMG_3373I wrapped more of the border strips around the base then filled in the base with a small section of a feather boa. It seemed like a great idea to cut the boa down to the right size. Nope it was a really bad idea to cut into a boa….I will be cleaning up feathers for weeks!!! Every time you try to swipe them up….they scatter further!! But….now that it’s done….I love how it turned out.  The Tim Holtz metal book plate really anchors the front so I could add all the fabby layers behind it. More of the potpoui pumpkins….another rosette and some orangy paper roses and mulberry leaves.

I think this project turned out to be spooktacular….I can’t wait to play with the Eerie Tale paper again!!! Wising you all a happy and productive day with lot’s of time to be creative : ) G
