Lovely Leaves Challenge at Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog

Standard

Hey there crafty friends and welcome to another fun challenge with the crew at the Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog. The Lovely and talented Jenny is the host for this challenge…

“At this time of year leaves take over from flowers as the stars of Nature’s display – the deciduous ones take on beautiful Autumnal hues before falling to the ground, whilst the evergreen ones keep our gardens from looking bare as we wait for new flowers to appear in the Spring. For this challenge make sure to add leaves (or even Pine Needles if you like) to your vintage or shabby chic projects.”

I’ve created a card with a bit of a brand mash up.

The leaves for my project are holly leaves that I die cut from green cardstock then added a pretty subtle scripty pattern using the Prima Art Alchemy Stamp #6.

The gorgeous plaid patterned paper is the Tim Holtz Idea-olgy Mini Paper Stash Christmas.  I’ve used a gold mirror cardstock to highlight the layers.  Spacers between the layers helps to add dimension and helps to keep the patterns from looking busy.  There’s a strip of vellum covering the paper to neutralize the pattern in a small area so the sentiment will be easier to see.

These flowers are all Prima. They coordinate so well with that paid background. I’ve added metal charms in a holiday theme to go with the mirrored cardstock. A few vintage buttons and sequins are the perfect finishing touch.

Now it’s your turn to create a fabulous project featuring lovely leaves and link up with us at the Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog  to play along!

The winner will earn a chance to be a Guest Designer at a future date here at The Funkie Junkie Boutique blog, and everyone who enters and follows the rules will go into the draw for the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. There are also Top 3 Badges for three additional outstanding entries, chosen by the Design Team.

The guidelines for entering are simple; create a new vintage or shabby chic project following the challenge theme, link it below to your post (not just your blog) and also include a link back to this challenge in your post. You can combine our challenge with up to 10 challenges (including this one) to be in with a chance of winning. If you are entering through a public forum (such as Instagram) you’ll need to include the words ‘Funkie Junkie Boutique Challenge‘. Also, please be sure to turn off your Word Verification so our Design Team can leave comments on your blogs. Make sure you follow these rules as unfortunately, we have had to eliminate entrants from the prize draws in the past.

  1. Charming Holiday card with so many beautiful flowers, leaves and ribbon! Soft and Elegant in design and warm and inviting with the plaid background and the gingerbread peeking out!

  2. What a fabulous card Ginny! I love the way the holly leaves peek out from beneath the clusters of poinsettias and what a fantastic way of enabling your sentiment to be made clearer through the use of a panel of vellum! Must remember that one.
