Steampunk Expedition Greeting Card with Tutorial

Hey there Paper Peeps!  I’ve got a little steampunk inspiration coming your way inspired by some gorgeous masculine papers with hot air balloons. I pulled out some of my favorite steampunk chippies from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts and loads of mixed media supplies and beautiful flowers.

Here’s a look at how I altered the chippies….

The most important thing is to select chipboard that will enhance your project.

Even if I’m going to finish the chippies with dark colors I base coat them in flat white paint.

I used a very thick coat of Iron Paste from Pentart and allowed to dry. Next I globbed on 3D Matte Gel from art basics to add a lumpy bumpy texture, then heat set to encourage the bubbling.

Using a cosmetic sponge I dabbed and smooshed on loads of alcohol inks.

I finished up the card with flowers, micro beads and twine.

Steampunk Inspired Hello Card

Hey there Peeps! Ginny here and I’m dropping in with a very Steampunk inspired greeting card and a Snapguide Tutorial so you can see the steps I took to create this project.  First the finished project….

Hello Steampunk Greeting Card GSL BoBunny 1

I had so much fun creating this card that was inspired by the Chain & Gear Frame.  And with just a quick coat of gold paint and white gel pen it coordinates perfectly with the patterned papers from BoBunny’s Somewhere In Time.

Steampunk Inspired Hello Card.

I used the frame to create a nice focal point with the sticker and die cut sentiment.

This card is finished inside with coordinating papers.

Matching flowers and simple but still pretty burlap bow with twine to anchor the corner.

Finishing the Chain Link Panel in white helps to add a nice graphic impression and works well between the busy patterned layers. The gear on the frame were finished in white as well.

Adding spacers between the layers really adds a lot of dimension and gives this project a nice weight.

Please enjoy this Snapguide tutorial I’ve prepared so you can see the steps to creating this project…

1 sc backI submit my project for your viewing pleasure…..

IMG_3308I used my Sin City Stamp for the steampunk styled woman and layered her into lots and lots of layers of hot air balloons and gears. I created the back ground paper  with a stencil and loads of Distress Inks and added the sentiment stamp from Sin City Stamps in chocolate brown. I also used the stamps to create the pocket watch images. I super love the SATIN CROSSHATCH RIBBON IN LIGHT SILVER from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

IMG_3310I started the house base a while back…it was just waiting for the right project to finish it off. It’s very dimensional as you can see and super sturdy to hold up to the weight of all the goodies added to the front. I used a crimping tool to corrugate the roof and added paint then topped it off with flocking powder. The laser cut dies are from Sin City as well…I love the gears and clock works and flourishes.

IMG_3311Most of the balloons were cut out in triplicate and layered up. I added a small grouping of flowers to anchor the images.

Okay….that’s all for me. I know you’re thinking how can you get in on the fun for this challenge and link up your project to be eligible to win a fabulous prize????? Well that’s easy peasy! Just click HERE to head on over to Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog for all the details!

Graphic 45 Steampunk Stashbuster Collage

Hey there Peeps! It’s my day to share a project at Really Reasonable Ribbon and I’ve got a very special framed collage that I created using lots and lots of scraps from my G45 scrap and salvage box. Yes you heard me right….I have a (gimongus) basket filled with a very organized system of keeping every single  little scrap. I can’t let go of even the tiniest piece.

IMG_3237I was going for a very steampunk look….so my main image is from Steampunk Debutante….then I layered her in with lots of Olde Curiosity Shoppe and French Country. I’ve added a few other vintagy images and beautiful poofy bows made with Black Circus Dots on Satin Ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

IMG_3239This was a great place to add the little book I made in my Mini Vintage Book Tutorial. I finished off my tags with the Metal Staples Lock Plates. There’s also loads of flowers, butterflies and gears.

IMG_3248I used about elebenty hundred foam dot spacers to make this a very dimensional collage. There are also many Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.

IMG_3238IMG_3244After trimming out the flowers…I cut between the petals so I could curl them up.  The butterflies got a double layer of images to be be extra poofy.

IMG_3241I’m going to add this collage to my foyer….it’ll match my little dresser we use to store our gloves and scarves and some big chunky candlesticks.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

Things with Wings Challenge

Time for another challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon. This time around the theme is Things With Wings.  I’m pretty excited to see what all you super creative crafters come up with. Sooo many things with wings right????

For my inspiration project I created this altered art clipboard. It’s a  gift for a very dear friend that my husband works with. We were so blessed that she could come to our Son’s graduation. She’s known Alex since he went to latchkey lol….so I guess she’s been a friend of the family a loooong time : ) Annie really likes things that are a little different…..or steampunky…or goth…so I stepped out of the box for this project.

IMG_1835-001I started with a smallish clipboard that I found at our local dollar store and layered and layered and layered. I inked it quite a bit as well with my Tim Holtz sprays. For texture there’s Gray Faux Burlap, Sheer Gray ribbon and some eyelash yarn. I Stickled the wings a bit too.

I hope Annie enjoys her little gifty. And I hope you hop on  over and join the fun by entering your own Things with Wings project in the challenge : )
