Nope…they’re not tags.

Standard

I had every intention of working on tags today with all the lovely little scrappy bits leftover from yesterdays card making.  But….. there was just too much pretty paper I couldn’t confine it to small tags.

This first card is totally shabby chic with soft colors and lot’s of ribbon and trim. The papers are from My Mind’s Eye. The sweet little flower is Prima.

The colors were all very pale…so I inked each edge well to define the layers. Here’s a little look at the close up.

I cut the birdcage out from a separate sheet. I just love the typography on it : )

This next card has bold colors and graphic stripes. The red glitter banner was already on the background sheet lucky me. I did separate the patterns with a coordinating solid red. Next a bit of sheer black ribbon with bow and several vintage buttons with string.  The string I stole from D.H. Kenny’s merit badge sewing kit. LOL It’s stiff enough to use without a needle, which in my hands is a dangerous weapon : )

That large vintage ticket is from Tim Holtz. Found on a shopping trip with my BFF. We were going to split them. I must have forgot to get them out of the bag : ( Unfortunately I think I used up her half first….lol. Here’s the close up.

Last but not least…card # 3. I did utilize many scraps on this one….so I did work the pile down a bit. Once again the paper is from M.M.E. The sweet little bow image on top of that sticker is from Graphics Fairy. It was originally part of a frame. The butterfly is also from G.F. It looks so charming resting on the edge of that tag.

I love how the dark colors really anchor the layers. Another one of the tags lends a vintage look to this card. Here’s one more look.

Yes…I did cut that bow out.  My friends will all be laughing. Can’t help it…it’s just what I do.  However to be fair…I will not heat emboss like they do so we all have our own little quirks that make our projects uniquely ours!

So after the kiddos get home today D.H. Kenny and I are going to meet the realtor for the hopefully new location for Polly’s. Crossing my fingers that all goes well. Just wish it wasn’t so rainy and gloomy. I will pass along the info as soon as I know anything.

Playin Paper With Carol

Standard

I enjoyed the company of my good friend Carol last night in the shop for some paper playin time! She was working on a collage on canvas and I was of course making cards. I used lots of chipboard elements from Crate Paper, patterned paper from Pink Paislee, Graphic 45 and Cosmo Cricket. I added lot’s of trim and buttons and did a little stamping.

I really love the blue and brown color scheme on this one! And the sweet little bow : ) I know it’s not what you would call “traditional” Christmas colors….but it seems “wintry” to me. With three layers of chipboard this card did need a fair amount of sanding to get rid of the picky bits that hold them together in the package…oh well it was a labor of love…since I do love this card!

Isn’t this card super cute??? It’s very bright and cheerful! I stamped the sentiment on the front and did some edge inking. Who wouldn’t want a pink house with Christmas light? LOL

This one turned out very “vintagy” if I do say so myself. Let me just tell you that I am in love with that polka dot paper from Graphic 45. It seems to work so well with just about any background color I put it with. Guess I better order some more before I use it all my self and the shop folks don’t get any : )

Etsy Shop Update! : )

Standard

I’ve just added these great tag bundles to the Etsy shop. They’re made with a double layer of thick cardstock so they’re extra sturdy for inking and adding embellishments. I’ve also added a reinforcing tab so your ribbons won’t pull through. These come bundled in a set of 5 : )

Here is an example of how you can alter these tags….

I chose the blue floral tag and added a beautiful vintage graphic image that you can easily find on Graphics Fairy….just follow the link on the right…she has images that a perfect for any project! I inked the layers heavily with Old Paper Distress Ink. Then I added a complimentary blue stripe with a lovely silhouette image also from Graphics Fairy. I topped it off with a chipboard frame that I painted and glittered, and several creme colored buttons. There is a pretty flourish metal charm in the corner. Last but not least…I created a fringe of crystal pendants and a layer of sweet blue paper roses. Having a double layer of cardstock is critical when adding so many embellishments so your tags will hold their shape and be sturdy.

I choose a nice variety of papers with small prints to top these lovely tags so you can alter away and not loose the pattern.

Cowgirl Card

Standard

I really loved this cutie patootie cowgirl image as soon as I saw it. She is totally vintage and she’s got herself a goat on her lasso. I think that she is quite stylishly dressed with her little hat and dress and boots! And the expression on her face is just priceless : )

Yep…you guessed it. Still showin off my mad sewing skills. Pretty papers in warm westerny colors are perfect for the vintage tones of the image. A few buttons, and a nice little ribbon bow : )
