Take a Hike TN Layout with Simple Stories

Hello there and happy Wednesday to you all!  Sharing a layout I created for my Travelers Notebook with a special picture of a trip my youngest Son and Hubby took to Philmont Scout Ranch Last summer.  This is their second trip but I don’t have many pictures of them together as my Hubby is usually the one taking pictures. So for this trip they travel by train from Michigan to New Mexico and spend 10 days hiking and camping in the mountains. They hike 100 miles and they love every step!

Of course I’m using Cabin Fever by Simple Stories for this very outdoorsy picture. And my own handwriting which is a big step outside my comfort zone but I’m determined to document these pictures.

I’m kinda obsessed with the tabbed topped labels with perfectly coordinating sentiments for this layout.

Little word stickers here for balance. I added a dash line and a doodle border to help frame the pages. I would never post a layout with pictures of other peoples kids…but sometimes you can’t avoid getting them in the shot so my tip for this is to use cut aparts or stickers to cover them up like I have here with the large explore sentiment.  It looks intentional and removes the child from the image.

I used the Cabin Fever Collection from Simple Stories for this layout .

Wishing all of you a happy and productive day : ) G

Happy Camper Greeting Card Simple Stories

Hey there and happy Tuesday! I’ve got a fun project share today using the Cabin Fever collection from Simple Stories. Many of you  know that we have a vintage 1966 Banner camper that we remodeled with all the fun retro accents like a checkered floor and chrome and aqua color scheme.  We decided this year to get a larger camper  to be more comfortable on our family adventures. This is happy and sad because I really did love our little camper but the new one has a lovely kitchen and fireplace and and a crafting area.

Happy Camper Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 01

This card makes me all kinds of happy. It has a camper and plaid and wood grain. What could be more funner than that?

Happy Camper Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 02

I’ve never seen a camper in real life that was plaid on the bottom….but now that I see it in this cute cut apart….I think they should make them for reals.

Happy Camper Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 03

Keeping with the retro color scheme I chose flowers in aqua and white. There’s a little loopy bow and twine tucked in to fill in this arrangement.

The banner shape is cut from the journal card that had a reservation form and is layered over a second card that I used to fussy cut an image for another project…..want not waste not. I added a little clip detail here as well.

What else but vintage buttons would work for a retro camper card? The die cut doily helps to break up the dark colors and make the camper image the focal point.

Aqua colored sequins are the finishing touch.  Spacers between the layers add loads of depth to this card.

Together Greeting Card

Just popping in to share a sweet and simply styled greeting card today that would be so perfect for a house warming, or anniversary, or wedding.

I’ve gathered elements from the Vintage Blessings Collection-Bits and Pieces from Simple Stories and layered them up to create a charming little arrangement.

This paper is Cedar Lane from American Crafts. I just had it in my stash and I was so thrilled with how well it coordinated.

I’ve topped off the arrangement with a small cluster of die cuts and secured them with the Tiny Attacher. Last but not least a small sprinkle of coordinating sequins.

For my Sizzlin’ Summer Colors I’m using Yellow, Orange, and Parrot Green Wrinkle Ribbon. I moved that ribbon arrangement 3 time before I found the perfect spot for it and it coordinates so perfectly with the Simple Stories paper and stickers and chipboard.

I gifted this topiary to my sweet local friend who has been working hard on graduation parties and library fundraisers. She is a real local treasure….and a dear friend.

Okay now it’s time for you to whip up a Sizzlin’ Summer Color project and link up with us to play along.

Get Your Happy Dad’s Day On Mini & Guest Design for Petaloo

Hey there paper Peeps! It’s Ginny here and I am really really really excited to be sharing my first project as guest designer at Petaloo for May.  I’ve created a fun and festive mini album with  Father’s Day as my inspiration.  I think a mini scrapbook filled with pictures and loads of memories journaled on the tags is such a thoughtful and very personal gift. It can even hold gift cards in the pockets in case you want to take it up a notch. Get Your Happy Dads Day On Mini Album Petaloo Simple Stories 1

OMGosh these little gnomes from Simple Stories are so dang cute. I super love all the patterns and images from this collection.  I chose to use a spiral binding for this album so it could hold bulkier embellishments like the chipboard stickers. I’ve even tucked in a few flowers throughout the pages and I wouldn’t want them to get smooshed.

Get Your Happy Dads Day On Mini Album Petaloo Simple Stories 2These Petaloo flowers really coordinate perfectly with the patterned papers and help to anchor the corner of the book. I layered many shapes and sizes and worked in some fabby Blueberry Picks. Leaves and tiny loopy twine bows fill in this arrangement and the chipboard bees on springs adds a very whimsical touch.

Using a punch I added an accent to the yellow checkered paper banner that’s tucked into to collage.  The Enamel Dots are a fun alternative to buttons and since they come with the Bloom & Grow collection I know they match perfectly.

Get Your Happy Dads Day On Mini Album Petaloo Simple Stories 4The base of this book is constructed out of sturdy chipboard so it would hold up to lots of admiring and page flipping. Dad’s gonna want to show off all his little Peeps!

I used ribbon trims to decorate the spiral binding. I found colors that matched the funky little chipboard stickers.  Just one per spiral though so it won’t interfere with the book opening.

Get Your Happy Dads Day On Mini Album Petaloo Simple Stories 6Several sets of the inside pages have pockets to add tags and memorabilia. To keep a consistent look I worked the wood grain pattern running throughout the book.

Get Your Happy Dads Day On Mini Album Petaloo Simple Stories 7Solid colored cardstock borders and matting helps to make the pockets and tags more sturdy and keeps the busy patterns from running together.

I turned this gnome line up on it’s side to create  pockets on the outside of the pages. It was so much better than having them only on the bottom of the page and allows of bigger tags to be inserted.Get Your Happy Dads Day On Mini Album Petaloo Simple Stories 9

The last set of pages has no pockets to allow for bigger pictures…or maybe a handwritten note from the kiddos.

Okay that’s it for my first project for May. I hope you enjoyed viewing it as much as I enjoyed creating it!

summer fun card 1What could be more summery than swimmy suits hanging on a button and bows clothes line????  These papers and stickers are from Simple Stories. I used adhesive foam spacers under the stickers for lots of dimension.

summer fun card 3The bows are created from my favorite Apple Green Swiss Dots Ribbon. So bright and cheerful. Topped off with Ivory Burlap String and itty bitty red buttons.

Fun Happy Birthday Mini

I created this great birthday mini with Simple Stories papers. This line is so chipper and cheerful it’s just like a party! I love the big graphic images and bright colors. This mini has 10 pages and 4 pockets…so there’s lots of room for pictures and journaling.

Isn’t that the funnest book????So it wouldn’t be overly busy  I trimmed the front simply with with a nice poofy bow of seam binding from Really Reasonable Ribbon and just a few yellow buttons.

I also want to say a big THANK YOU to Guidobono Concrete for donating and delivering the concrete for my sons Eagle Scout project….if you haven’t yet caught a post with his project in it…he is building a gazebo shelter at the Arise church for the folks who bring the pets to the dog park. The concrete donation is greatly appreciated by our family and all those who will be using the shelter once it’s complete : )
