Peace and Joy Bi-Fold Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 01

I mean if this doesn’t look festive…..well then I don’t know what does! This paper is super Christmasy.

Peace and Joy Bi-Fold Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 02

I am a little bit obsessed with creating flowers and to make these coordinate with the holiday theme I added Prills and faux snow.

Peace and Joy Bi-Fold Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 03

Can we just talk about these snowflakes???? I just got some shabby embossing powder with tiny gold flakes in it and I think it puts these chippies over the top.

Peace and Joy Bi-Fold Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 05

Adding sequins here cuz that’s what I do lol.

Peace and Joy Bi-Fold Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 04

More flowers and die cut leaves. Tucking in a little loopy twine bow really fills in the arrangement.

Opening the first fold. Wouldn’t it be fun to add a picture here….or maybe a gift cad????

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year Christmas Greeting Card

Standard

Happy Thanksgiving to all my peeps who are celebrating today! I am thankful for each and every one of you. I’m hoping you have a happy and blessed day full of family and fun and especially pie…lots and lots of pie!

I wish I had a Thanksgiving card to share today…but I’ve already shared all of them so I’m staying on the Christmas theme.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 01

I super love this card. The chipboard frame really pops against the dark colored patterned papers.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 02

Pretty holiday inspired flowers and die cuts are layered over Christmas images and a crisp white diecut doily.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 03

This tree is so pretty. My favorite piece from the ephemera pack.

Most Wonderful Time of the Year Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 04

I’ve balanced the larger arrangement with a giant poinsettia. I really love poinsettias….but we have cats so it’s not safe to decorate with them here : (

Pearls seem to be a classy little accent on this card with darker colors….like a pearl necklace on a little black dress.

Flower Challenge at RRR

Standard

Hey there Peeps! Time to start another fun challenge at Reasonable Ribbon. This time it’s a Flower theme which was a no brainer for me…because I put flowers on like everything! I created A Moment in Time Card….but I think it works better as a shabby chic display. Can’t you just see this on a shelf tucked in with some milk glass vases and old books?

A Moment in Time Card 1

Did I mention flowers?  Yes I do loose all control when I add the flowers because clearly more is better!!!

A Moment in Time Card 2

These gorgeous blooms are all Mulberry Flowers from RRR-Trellis Roses, Sweetheart Blossoms, English Roses, and Spiral Stamens.

A Moment in Time Card 3

I’ve done a fair amount of layering here with a lovely bow of Chevron Striped Twill in Champagne,  topped with an actual vintage button, and heat embossed A Moment in Time Chippie from Gypsy Soul.

A Moment in Time Card 4

I really added a lot of texture to this card by distressing the edges and adding texture paste with a flourishy stencil. All the layers have spacers between so this is very dimensional. For balance I added another small arrangement of flowers and twine.

A Moment in Time Card 5

My focal image starts with a Country Chic Frames digi collage from my very own shop. I added some chicken wire background papers and a lovely dragonfly diecut.  More chippies for this corner too…Tulip Scroll Corner and Number Plate.

Okay now it’s your turn to create something fabulous with flowers and link up with us to play along in the Flowers with Ribbon or Trim Challenge.

Okay that’s all for me. Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

Mother’s Day Scarf Pin Tutorial

Standard

Hey there Paper Peeps!  I’m just dropping in to share a fun and easy tutorial to whip up some great little flower, lace, and burlap scarf pins. These make great little gifts for Mother’s Day too! Make up a bunch of these cuties to have on hand and you’ll be ready with a thoughtful handmade gift whenever you need one. Did I mention they’re easy????

IMG_3316

Isn’t that shabbylicious??? I think it would be pretty cute on a hat too!!!

Okay lets get started…..

IMG_3317I have 9 artificial fabric flowers….nothing to write home about….but I like the size and shape. I used my blending tool and Victorian Velvet Distress Ink to give them some color. Next I added some Liquid Pearls in Bisque to the outer edges. While it was still wet…I sprinkled on Martha Stewart fine clear glitter.  You can also add a little Walnut or Gathered Twig Ink to antique it like I did in the finished pin.  You will also need some flower stamens….these I found in the cake decorating section. I layered three flowers and added three stamens to the center of each.

IMG_3319Cut a circle from chipboard or other stiff backing material. I used an antique file folder since they are very thick and sturdy.  Pierce a hole in the center.  Trim Burlap from the wired edge and cut a scalloped shape on one side. Pinch pleat and hot glue the burlap around making sure to cover the outside edge of the circle. Add a layer of Crocheted Lace trim next pinch pleating the same as you did with the burlap. This took 2 layers of each for the size of circle and flowers I chose….you may like more or less layers.

IMG_3320Begin pulling the stamens from the flowers through the center hole of the chipboard circle. You’ll want to add all three flowers before you secure the stamens on the back.

IMG_3321I just squished the stamens into slightly cooled hot glue….still hurt : (  You could also use a wet adhesive like E 6000 if you’re squeamish about burning yourself. Add the pin back now. I found them at the big box craft store…very inexpensive for a fairly large package. These came with an adhesive strip….but I don’t trust that adhesive….so I added hot glue before securing it to the pin.

IMG_3324

Once you have everything secured….give the burlap a little haircut to remove any stray stringy bits and be sure to check for glue strings before gifting it to someone special : )

Okay I hope I’ve inspired you to create lot’s of these to give to brighten someones day! I’m wishing you a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

Ribbon Organization and My Studio

Standard

Well hello there Peeps….it’s Ginny here and it’s my day to share how I organize my Really Reasonable Ribbons!  Just a fair warning….I’m a bit OCD….can’t help it….I come by it from my Momma….the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree : ) These pics were taken on a very snow stormy day in Michigan….so they are not as bright as the shop usually is : (

IMG_2978My crafting space is in the back corner of my store….I have to keep things neat and tidy most of the time….so I’ve got a pretty organized system to make things easy to put back to make room for crops and classes.  Quite a bit of my trims are in the cabinet on the right…in those stacked bins on the shelves. They are all labeled by color : ) Labels make me happy!

IMG_2958I’ve got my RRR ribbons in this large compote on the shelf. The texture is so pretty. I keep lot’s of little bits in these vintage dishes and milk glass. Tiny clothes pins, felty hearts and bits of images clipped out and ready to use.

IMG_2956Here is some pretty glitters, more dishes filled with paper pretties and washi tapes.

IMG_2965I love these little boxes with the French theme.  The little dress form was a gifty from my DH…I added a few sparkly Christmas ornaments and flowers to dress it up a bit. Behind the shelves I have some boards to hold little bits of images and some vintage button tags.

IMG_2959This shelf has my embellishment boxes, more vintage clippings and paper pads.

IMG_2937My inspiration board is a great place to display a banner we made recently in class, flowers, trinkets from my peeps, and some of my favoritest blingy jewelery.

IMG_2899I’ve hung my inspiration board above Stella my dress form. She has more bling on lol. The tower on the right holds crepe rolls, vintage mason jars full of buttons and rings for albums. There’s also a container of chapsticks and “emergency eyeliner” I’m never without eyeliner lol.

IMG_2970I added some of my favoritest pink polka dot ribbon to these canning jars and filled them with little bitty bags, glassine bags, super cute stripy straws and Middy bags stacked in back.

IMG_2921I do love all these drawers. Filled with all my flowers and doilys and tools and buttons. Yes I know I have a few labels missing….it’s on the list lol.

IMG_2924I’ve filled up this spinning rack (meant for paint) with my ribbon spools….they are super handy to reach for when I need them. I’ve got all my go-to tools in the cute pink buckets and tags are displayed in the seed containers on the shelves.

IMG_2936IMG_2922I keep all my RRR trims stored in the clear bins by color wrapped with craft paper strips held on with paper clips so I can use it and rewrap them easily. This works to keep a lot of ribbon in less space : )

IMG_2987IMG_2999IMG_3010IMG_3011IMG_3012I try to keep all my prettiest supplies out for inspiration….but like most of you I do have a space that is strictly functional….in my case I call it “the beast” A ginormous cabinet for all my stamps and inks and paper stash and other necessary items. I’m showing it to you with the doors open since Bonnie was so brave to share her box of shame lol. You should insert slasher movie music now lol

IMG_2983And here are my bins of shame lol

IMG_3014IMG_3015

Yikes…I guess I better work on those bins lol.

I hope you enjoyed your little visit in my crafty space : ) Wishing you all a happy and productive and and time to be creative : ) G

Vintage Easter Creativity Kit and Cards

Standard

I’ve had myself the bestest afternoon working with the fun bits and pieces of my new Vintage Easter Creativity Kit.  I used lot’s of paper from the scrap and salvage, and added embellishments to create some really sweet vintage Easter cards.IMG_2848IMG_2853IMG_2845IMG_2854IMG_2857I had a several pieces left to make some more cards or tags…but I ran out of time at the shop : (

Here is the Vintage Easter Creativity Kit:

IMG_2844Chicks and bunnies and eggs and lamb. All in super sweet shabby pastely Easter colors. Hand crafted tinsel topped crepe fringe and pre-tied bows. All images printed on 65 lb cardstock and trimmed so you’re ready to get your craft on with this fun kit.

Additional trims used from Really Reasonable Ribbon: Burlap Center Stitch Pink, Chevron Striped Twill Celery.

I hope you all have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

More Christmas Ornaments as Promised : )

Standard

Here’s 2 more ornaments we created in class last week….as promised. We had so much fun working with all the trimy bits and pieces. I will say though that it is no time soon that I will be rid of the glitter on the tables and floor and tools and chairs and displays….well….pretty much everywhere. It’s all good though!

IMG_2720This one has a bingo card cut into a banner shape. We did add a layer of book board behind to make it sturdy enough to hang a festive ball ornament…on an eyelet of course so it wont pull out. The Santa image is one of my favorites from Graphic’s Fairy. There’s also fun tinsel trim, glittery leaves and a handy dandy hanging loop made of Snowflakes on Red Satin. Last but not least a sweet little bow of Baker’s Twine in Cherry. From Really Reasonable Ribbon! This is one of my favorites of the season….as I have really embraced my retro mojo this year.

IMG_2719This ornament is very traditional. We layered a lovely vintage image onto sheet music on pop dots for extra dimension. Then we added it to a sparkly snowflake ornament. The Moss Gingham bow matches perfectly and is topped off with a large jingle bell : ) I added a bit of the trim to create a hanger.

Okay…I’m off now to fight my way through the Michigan blizzard to get to the post office then to the shop. I’m working on our class project for next week…I’ll give ya a hint….it’s a Winter Woodland mini album….I have to say…it’s in the running for top 5 fave seasonal projects. Notice I didn’t say holiday????? Are you intrigued now lol???? Okay wish me luck….not that I need it too much since I’m a little ol country girl driving a big ol truck! I hope you all have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative! : ) G

Here on the home front….I’ve been decking the halls….I’ll add pics as I get them taken….first here is our living room tree:

IMG_2663-001Let me start by saying this is a super gimongus tree! Lot’s of ornaments from our original collection. Some handmade…..some have had a make over…..we have 1 box of missing ornaments….where the heck did it go???? Anyhoo as soon as I find them….I’ll finish up the tree and update the picture.  Yesterday I decorated the snowman tree in the kitchen…..hopefully we will have a little sun so I can get a picture.

I hope you all have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G

New Challenge at RRR Shabby Chic

Standard

The new challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon is Shabby Chic. They shoulda just called it the Ginny Challenge right??? I. Am. All. About. Shabby. But you already knew that right? So what does shabby chic mean to me? Old and new. Weathered and worn. City and country. Soft dreamy colors and flowers. And above all else…it must be feminine. And textures. So here is my project…I think I hit on every one of those.

IMG_2218Just a simple little pocket….but I dressed it up in a pretty rose patterned paper and some vintage images for the tags.  I added a crepe fringe with pearly accents, a few burlap flowers for texture, and beautiful button from the stash.  I created my bow with a double layer of Wrinkle Ribbon, Ivory and Pink. I toned down the pink with a little Distress Ink so it would look old. One last button on top. I used a bit of chocolate brown in the form of a circular reinforcing dot on my tags…I think it helps to anchor all the soft colors. Now to write some sweet nothings on the tags!

Now it’s your turn to whip up something Shabby and fabulous and hop on over to Really Reasonable Ribbon to enter your project in the challenge.

If anyone needs me today..I’ll be working away like a busy little bee on kits with a nice cup of tea and my little gray girl Lily by my side. Wonder what I can find on Netflix to keep me company while I work???

Hope you all have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative. G
