Advent Calendar with Video Tutorial

Standard

Hey there Peeps! I’m super sorry about this post going up so late. I planned to work on it last night so it could go live this morning……but we were out shoveling very late  and I was too tired to edit the video we prepared for this project.

I am really excited though to share this project. I created an advent calendar for my Dear Hubby. He loves really good beer so he will be getting one for each day of the 12 days of Christmas as a special reward just for him.

I’m using Echo Park papers with a fun retro vintage vibe.

Tiny envelopes create the pockets to tuck in the bingo cards with numbers on the back.

Fussy cut stickers are festive accents. This pocket even has twine wrapped around.

Loads of altered chipboard for dimension. Sequins are a fun detail to add and looks a bit like snowflakes.

I’ve added glitter to a few of the sentiment stickers and bling to the chipboard. You can never have enough bling…especially at Christmas.

Last but not least jingle bells, buttons, ribbon trims, and a wooden clothespin.

Please enjoy this video we’ve prepared on how I created the base for this advent calendar….

Christmas Traditions Greeting Card

Standard

Hey there Peeps! I was just sitting here thinking wow we’re already done with our first week of December. Time goes by so fast this time of year.  I’m just popping in to share a very traditionally styled Christmas card and a few images from our holiday home.

I’ve gone back to plaid…but this time paired with with a pretty holiday pattern and a bold stripe.

And perfectly coordinating flowers and ribbon trim.

Here’s a shneaky peek of one of our Christmas trees…..it has a gingerbread theme with loads of lollipops, peppermints, candies, and of course my favorite cookie…..gingerbread.

All of these are ornaments of course because if it were real treats the tree would be bare by the time the holiday gets here. Just kidding….no really lol.

And here is the same tree this morning with a little furry friend come to enjoy the Christmas lights…..

Deck The Halls Christmas Greeting Card

Standard

Happy December Peeps! I’m sharing a card I created with the new Back to Basics December Ribbon Club Assortment.

I was so happy to see this collection as I have some really fabby plaids that I’ve been wanting to use and the black ribbon coordinates perfectly!

I think the black ribbon was the perfect choice to anchor the red plaid.

Did I mention I like plaid? I am all about the plaid!

These gorgeous flowers are from RRR too. I’ve created a nice arrangement full of blooms and die cut leaves and glittery accents.

The sentiment is layered over a festive holiday die cut that reminds me a bit of chalkboard : )

I balanced the larger arrangement with a smaller second combination that accents the layered poofy bow topped with jingle bells.

Even though I was working on a busy background I wanted a little something extra so I included die cut borders in flat black. A few pearl are the perfect finishing touch.

Vintage Santa Love Christmas Greeting Card

Standard

Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed a lovely holiday with your family. This year we had two Thanksgivings  so that we could spend time with all the Peeps. Last night we had dinner with our Niece and her Husband and family. It was really a great time with delicious food and new friends!

But back to work today…..Santa’s elves never rest after all. I’m sharing a Christmas greeting card with a gorgeous Santa image.

The images are traditional….but I think it has almost a Victorian theme. Maybe it’s the font on the  sentiment die cut?

I know I’m obsessed with vintage buttons….but this is a record amount for me to add to one card. And I ain’t even mad lol.

Pretty coordinating  trims and flowers : )  I’ve layered in a die cut wreath here as well and tucked in a crisp white doily to create a base for the embellishments.

Have you noticed a trend here with the dark plaids?  If I’m being honest….I want to put plaid on every project from now on.  This time it’s paired with black patterns on kraft cardstock and I love how it turned out!

New Favorite Card Alert!

Standard

I’m stopping in to share a  new card today. This one takes the title of new favorite card. I just love the vintage images and all the layers!

The colors are soft. The patterns are vintage and the images are just as sweet as can be. I gave it a nice painted and inked chipboard frame and some pretty old fashioned buttons. The pink ticket is from Graphic’s Fairy. Stripes and dots works so well for retro cards don’t you think?

I sewed around for added detail then embellished with coordinating ribbon, another pearly button, a Melissa Francis key plate and a trimmed doily image from a sheet of My Mind’s Eye Paper. I added a tiny tag with pink pearly accents.

This may be a short lived title….I have another card almost finished and it’s a contender for #1 favorite. We shall have to wait for tomorrow.

Shabby Chic French Flourish

Standard

After years of being off the early morning shift  starting at 4 am my internal clock still says ” wakey wakey” well before the sun comes up. Even on the weekends. So I tip toe around with just a few lights on and try to get some creating done while the house is nice and quiet. A true luxury in a home with 2 teenage boys. This morning I was in the mood for extreme shabby chic.

I just love all the dreamy neutral layers here. I did a lot of paper piecing to make a nice scallop border for the lovely French image from Graphics Fairy. Inking is essential when working with pale shades. I choose Walnut Distress Ink from Tim Holtz. The papers are from My Mind’s Eye. I also choose to border with craft paper. Turns out to be a happy accident that the typography on the pattern is French also : )

This image is so beautiful. I did a fair amount of fussy cutting to remove her from the background. She has a sweet little bird perched on her hand : )

I made this flower last week. But the mischievous Lily snagged it and ran off with it and I just found it under the table leg this morning. I used a natural fiber to soften the edge. The blingy brad center is from Spare Parts. We carry them in the shop Woo Hoo so you know I’ll be making a lot of fluffy flowers.

I just love the dimension from ruffled fabric. I choose a blush colored ribbon to make a simple bow.

I may decide to frame this for the shop….but until then it’s a card for anyone who loves vintage.

The menfolk are on their way to a movie. Star Wars in 3d is not the flick for me. I hope they enjoy their afternoon out. I am planning to keep on crafting. And maybe make chili and beer bread???
