Deck The Halls Christmas Greeting Card

Standard

Happy December Peeps! I’m sharing a card I created with the new Back to Basics December Ribbon Club Assortment.

I was so happy to see this collection as I have some really fabby plaids that I’ve been wanting to use and the black ribbon coordinates perfectly!

I think the black ribbon was the perfect choice to anchor the red plaid.

Did I mention I like plaid? I am all about the plaid!

These gorgeous flowers are from RRR too. I’ve created a nice arrangement full of blooms and die cut leaves and glittery accents.

The sentiment is layered over a festive holiday die cut that reminds me a bit of chalkboard : )

I balanced the larger arrangement with a smaller second combination that accents the layered poofy bow topped with jingle bells.

Even though I was working on a busy background I wanted a little something extra so I included die cut borders in flat black. A few pearl are the perfect finishing touch.

Falling Leaves Challenge at RRR

Standard

Yay it’s time for a new challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon. This time it’s Falling Leaves. So perfect for this time of year don’t ya think?

I created a card with pretty patterned papers, warm colors and fall inspired embellishments.

IMG_2413I think those leaves add a nice texture.

I used the   Brown Gingham Ribbon to make this super poofy bow.  There’s a layer of Bakers Twine in Brown Sugar also and Faux Burlap. All the trims came from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  I dressed up the bow with some pretty little leaf topped pins and a fancy shmancy covered brad.

IMG_2416The sentiment on this chipboard piece if just perfect for the Thanksgiving Holiday Season. Not everything has to have a turkey on it right lol????

IMG_2418I found these little velvet flowers in chocolate brown in the stash…score for me 🙂 They dress up the side of the painted and inked chipboard frame.

Well that’s it for my project….I can’t wait to see what you guy’s come up with. So get busy creating your Falling Leaves projects and enter them in the challenge!

Later today we’ll be announcing the winner of our Vintage Halloween Cotton Scraps Giveaway so be on the lookout for another quick post this evening.

I hope you all have a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : )G

Better Late than Never

Standard

I wanted to share this cute owl card last week…however I had a little trouble getting the image to upload. So here is another try at it : ) I hope you love it as much as I do : )

IMG_2215This sweet little guy has been kickin around the scrap box for awhile lol…just waiting for the right moment. These colors are a little brighter than traditional Fall hues…..but they had to match that glittery owl image. I did anchor them with a few patterns in rich chocolate brown. I topped the flowers with pearly accents and added a tiny clip to the smile sentiment for extra detail. The Ribbons are Ivory Satin and Juliet Lace from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

IMG_2216I don’t want to forget to mention these sweet little leafy pins from Maya Road…just right for Fall right????

Ribbon Leaf Tutorial

Standard

Oh how we hoard the craft supplies. I am sooooo guilty. I just know I’ll use up every little thing…if I only keep it long enough.  Let’s see a show of hands if you’re with me…no..keep em up so we can count…yep. Every single one of you lol.

Need a little inspiration??? Well I can’t help you with the whole stash…but if you’re holding on to silk flower stems with leaves on them….you’ve come to the right place. I’m sharing this tutorial at Really Reasonable Ribbon’s Ramblings.

I’ll show you a little sneaky peek of my project….it a lovely shabby chic tag.

IMG_1543IMG_1545

These leaves had a shape I liked….but the colors were not so much shabby chic. I started by pulling the leaves off the stem. The secret ingredient is my favorite Scor-Tape ( Yes I know I use it on everything.)

IMG_1547Use the Scor-Tape to cover the leaves. Don’t be too concerned if it runs over the edge…you’ll be trimming it later. It’s also more interesting to choose different size leaves. For my project I chose the Olive Wrinkle Ribbon and Faux Natural Burlap.

IMG_1551Choose a trim that will coordinate with your project and press it firmly into the tape and trim off excess. The tape will keep the sides from raveling. They are also bulkier and have a nice structure. Some leaves even have a wire in the back…so once you have the trim applied….you can bend them into a perfect shape.

IMG_1553 I used my leaves layered under some pretty paper roses that I swiped from my BFF Heather’s craft room lol. Just kidding. She treated me to lot’s of flowers for helping her organize her ribbon : )

One last look at the finished tag.

IMG_1543

I added some real vintage buttons, crystal headed pins, a metal mailing tag, some Juliet Lace and a sweet little bow of Ivory Wrinkle Ribbon. Last but not least an inked paper doily.

Okay…that used up 4 leaves out of the stash…I guess I better keep my thinkin cap on.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) G
