Be Your Own Kind of You Inspirational Art

Hey there Paper Peeps! Lucky me today is my day to share the project I created specially for the matchup Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts is doing with Canvas Corp Brands.  Thank you Canvas Corp for the lovely selection of paper pretties to play with!

I was inspired by the image from the 7 gypsies Architectures Collection Ornate Frames.

To better coordinate with the flowers I colored over some of the clothing on this pretty vintage lady.

I really loved the texture from the torn out sheet from the Spiral Book so I made sure to leave a good long run of it on the side.

Matching flowers create a nice arrangement here with netting tucked in and topped off with pearly headed stick pins.

More flowers for the top. Dangling keys is a metallic finish to compliment her outfit.

This gorgeous frame is a bit of a nod to shabby chic….and helps to brighten this composition. Real vintage buttons are required here as new buttons would not have the right patina and character .

The inspiration sentiment was clipped from the packaging and the background is packaging too!

These chippies were wiped down to prepare them for altering.

They are finished in flat white paint. The frame is now done and ready to add to my project.

The keys got a layer of antique gold embossing powder and heat set with the tool very close to get a slightly bubbly effect.

Halloween Card Class Sept 3rd

Well I’m not usually running this late with my class post…but I guess it’s a sign of the times with back to school lol….I’m sure I’ll have everyone’s schedule figured out eventually….I hope : ) Until then….here is the next class for Sept. 3rd.

Vintage Inspired Halloween Cards

Here is a sneak of one of the cards:

IMG_2179There are two spots available for this class. If you would like me to reserve your seat…you can respond to this post. Sorry about the late notice : ( As usual I’ve added layers and layers of patterned papers with very festive Halloween images, fun embellishments, and trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon. Class starts at 6 pm…and we will be doing a lot of inking so be prepared to wear something you can work in. Cost for the class is $25 and includes everything you need to complete 5 fabulous vintage inspired Halloween cards. I think they would be fun to give….but how about used in your seasonal decor on a mantle or shelf or tabletop?

For those who are already registered…I know who you are so don’t worry…I’m planning on seeing you Tuesday for our usual shenanigans, mischief, and mayhem. If you’d like to make the cards but don’t live local I’ll be putting the kits in the Etsy shop by tomorrow evening.

As I’m typing this post…D.H. chef extraordinaire is in the kitchen making us a homemade pesto pizza for dinner….I can hardly wait it smells so tasty! Finding it hard to focus on the typing with my tummy rumbling so I’ll be off now : )

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative (or eat pizza lol.) G

New Challenge at Let’s Get Shabby

They’ve got a new challenge going on at Let’s Get Shabby.

This time it’s a color challenge. Here is a peek at our inspiration picture.

Shabby-Chic-ColoursFor this challenge we were asked to use all the colors….which I just loved…so soft and shabby.

Here is my project….a layout of my Niece Olivia.

IMG_1605IMG_1619I dry brushed these flowers to coordinate with the shabby color challenge, then layered them over a great little mailing tag, pretty pearly stick pins, bits of lace and pretty doily donated by my dear sweet friend Anna.

IMG_1611Another grouping of flowers to anchor the other corner.

IMG_1613Here is a lovely layered and Stickled butterfly.

IMG_1609I added lot’s of Stickles to this pretty vintage printout….and to the crown and butterfly. The glitter is a nice finishing touch!

Okay…now it’s your turn to create a project for the color challenge…click on the link above for the rules and good luck to all who enter.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative.G

Knee Deep in the Remodel

As many of you know…we are in the midst of a remodel here. New windows, new paint and all that fun stuff. I figured as long as I have to repaint…I may as well take the opportunity to change up the decor as well. So it’s out with what I refer to as Early Traditional Best Buy decorating plan that consists mostly of a giant flat screen and giant couch preferred by the other members of my household….all male, and two teens. My new decor theme is Pottery Barn meets shabby chic. Here is the first installment of new and improved plate rack in the kitchen.

The plaques are actually dollar store particle board squares that previously had french country roosters in golds and reds. The new images are of course from Graphics Fairy!!! Lot’s of layers of papers and all wrapped so no unfinished edges!

Sorry about the dark picture….the suns not quite up yet here.

I just love them. Later today I will update this post to include pics of the hutch that is now painted Pottery Barn Black!!! YAY

Shabby Chic Collage

I started this collage with images from Graphics Fairy. I really love the French ledger sheet in the background so I choose all the other colors to coordinate. The silvery flourishes are hand stamped and the chipboard pieces are inked and distressed. There’s a little dimensional piece in there too from Pink Paislee. Finally I added the typed words and ribbon to the key. The base is mat board so it’s extra sturdy even without a frame.

Fun Size Cutie

So I came across this sticker sheet the other day when cleaning-rearranging the store….and thought to myself…these would match perfectly with some pretty brightly colored paper that I had my eye on using for quite a while. I just love how it turned out in a paper bag mini. What a cheerful little book.

Cute little birdie!

Each set of pages has a pocket! This is a Fun Size with lot’s of room.
