Grow Where You are Planted Halloween Decor Shadow Box Guest Design for Alpha Stamps

Hey there Peeps! So excited to be sharing the project I created as a guest designer for Alpha Stamps. They sent me oodles of fabby Halloween paper pretties and supplies and I just could not hardly wait to play.

I used  the Little Ghouls Kit from Alpha Stamps along with some bits and pieces from my stash to create this fun Halloween decor Shadow Box. The kit is chock full of vintagy images, patterned papers, holiday emebllies, and chipboard.

I created the shadow box itself with a basic chipboard frame and created boxes for each section then added it to a super sturdy base. The frame was then painted with crackle paint. Each section has a pattern of paper from the kit. These little moon  charms are really fun and make a great accent dangling from  bakers twine and adhered behind coordinating flowers.

Going with  a spooky garden theme I created bat flowers growing on copper stems with itty bitty buttons and charms added.  The little gardener chap has a wheelbarrow to harvest his crop and fanciful wings, altered chipboard gate, and a mossy field to plant in.

Additional holiday characters are displayed in their own environment with chippies, flowers, paper rosettes, sequins, and fun charms from Alpha Stamps.

Star garland and glittery strips add texture and brings the design out onto the front of the frame. The trick to adding layers of vintagy images is to include foam spacers for depth.

You can see from this angle how dimensional this shadow box is.  What fun to play with this kit. Thanks so much to Alpha Stamps for letting me join your team as guest this month and for the generous dt box full of awesome supplies.

Get Your Happy Dad’s Day On Mini & Guest Design for Petaloo

Hey there paper Peeps! It’s Ginny here and I am really really really excited to be sharing my first project as guest designer at Petaloo for May.  I’ve created a fun and festive mini album with  Father’s Day as my inspiration.  I think a mini scrapbook filled with pictures and loads of memories journaled on the tags is such a thoughtful and very personal gift. It can even hold gift cards in the pockets in case you want to take it up a notch. Get Your Happy Dads Day On Mini Album Petaloo Simple Stories 1

OMGosh these little gnomes from Simple Stories are so dang cute. I super love all the patterns and images from this collection.  I chose to use a spiral binding for this album so it could hold bulkier embellishments like the chipboard stickers. I’ve even tucked in a few flowers throughout the pages and I wouldn’t want them to get smooshed.

I layered many shapes and sizes and worked in some fabby Blueberry Picks. Leaves and tiny loopy twine bows fill in this arrangement and the chipboard bees on springs adds a very whimsical touch.

Using a punch I added an accent to the yellow checkered paper banner that’s tucked into to collage.  The Enamel Dots are a fun alternative to buttons and since they come with the Bloom & Grow collection I know they match perfectly.

I used ribbon trims to decorate the spiral binding. I found colors that matched the funky little chipboard stickers.  Just one per spiral though so it won’t interfere with the book opening.

I turned this gnome line up on it’s side to create  pockets on the outside of the pages. It was so much better than having them only on the bottom of the page and allows of bigger tags to be inserted.Get Your Happy Dads Day On Mini Album Petaloo Simple Stories 9

The last set of pages has no pockets to allow for bigger pictures…or maybe a handwritten note from the kiddos.

Okay that’s it for my first project for May. I hope you enjoyed viewing it as much as I enjoyed creating it!

Hip To Be Square Challenge and Guest Design for Frilly and Funkie

Hey there Peeps! Well it’s a very exciting day for me. I’m guest designing this month at Frilly and Funkie and I’m sharing my project I created for their Hip To Be Square Challenge.  The designers there are always such an inspiration to me and it’s a real honor to get to join them this month.

Okay on to the challenge. Hip To Be Square is the theme and we’re to incorporate squares of course and also be  hippie inspired and have the colors of the 60’s and 70’s .

This project was really a combination of all the things that came to mind for a “Hip To Be Square” hippie theme. Owls of course are a classic retro icon. I created mine with a layering of retro patterned papers and assembled with spacers between the layers for depth. Just to be cheeky I added a tiny handcrafted pair of glasses to make my owl a real” square”.

I used a variety of retro inspired chipboard pieces colored in the essential burnt orange and avocados which adds graphic detail and great pops of color. I gave my owl a little home in a recycled stamp carton to create a shadow box effect and attached it to a MDF board covered in some really groovy printed paper.

Last but not least…..coordinating flowers because all 70’s hippies were flower child’s right? This project was really a walk on the “Funky” side for me….but I love how it turned out!!! Maybe I have an inner flower child waiting to come out????

Okay that’s all for me. Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G
