When we moved our shop to Dexter we gained a ton of space to display seasonal decor. I can not begin to tell you how happy this makes me!! My first holiday to decorate for is coming to an end….so before I take it all down and start decking the halls…I got a few shots of the spooktacular Halloween display. I also had myself a little fun with the photo effects : )
How do you decorate a shabby chic pink store for Halloween? White pumpkins of course! I layered this vignette with a large mirror in a silvery and antiqued frame. To get some height for my pumpkins I stacked them on some antique books with their covers removed. I added some black candle sticks and funky black wreaths. A few sunflower picks for pops of color. They came with those sweet little gourds on them : ) Win for me!!! I had a few pale ceramic pieces of skeletons so those went in the front. My dear friend Jane has been sneaking in the fun little tiny white pumpkins she grew in her garden : ) Thanks Jane!!!!
I draped the top of the mirror with a lace curtain to give it a vintage look. I’m calling this side my shabby chic pumpkin alter. The best part of the “foundation pieces I added…is that I can just leave them up there when I’m ready to switch out the decor to a different season. Who’s a smart decorator???? ME!!!
Edgar the raven has been perched in the bird cage on a stack of books…I left the door open in case he wants to fly away lol.
I played around with the effects on this pic until I had almost all the color out. Then added some text…I love how it turned out…pretty and spooky.
Okay….so that’s one side of my center island display…all shabby and pale….anchored with black accents. Tomorrow I’ll be sharing the other side of the display that I decked out all in vintage. Of course I’m pretty excited to start layering in the Christmas displays….so this will all be coming down next week. I’ve been working hard creating some really lovely decorations for my small white Christmas tree and I can’t wait to share them with you.
If you missed yesterdays post…you should click here to check it out. We’re having a fun giveaway of a vintage Halloween Mini Album just in time to save the pics and mementos of your holiday celebrations.
Are you getting your little ghost and ghouls ready for trick or treating? What a great time of year when our little ones get to live their imagination and be what ever they want to be. My little ones are not so little anymore. We haven’t trick or treated for years now. But we haven’t given up on the holiday…we just changed our tradition. We plan our yearly family trip to Cedar Point. For all of you not from this area…Cedar Point is a totally fabulous theme park filled with awesome roller coasters and rides…and for Halloween they go all out and decorate every square inch with skeletons and hearses and anything spooky. The also have quite a few haunted houses and a straw maze. It’s not for the weak though…as it usually starts out nice…but gets chillier as the day goes on. This however keeps the line short at the rides…and everyone in my little family are coaster junkies.
I decided it would be a great time to have a fun giveaway. I enjoyed making this vintage Halloween book….and some lucky winner will enjoy filling it with pics of their little spookable and mementos of their holiday celebration.

I used My Mind’s Eye Papers and trims from Really Reasonable Ribbon to create this awesome Halloween mini.
Hi everyone and welcome to the Really Reasonable Ribbon August Blog Hop! If you’ve hopped here from Corri’s Blog then you’re on the right track! If not…head on over to the Really Reasonable Ribbon’s Ramblings Blog where it all starts so you won’t miss a thing! I have to say I had a blast making this card and adding tons of layers and goodies!
I used a nice sampling of trims from the August Ribbon Club Assortment. Thanks to Bonnie for sending it to me. I have to say purple and gray are not colors I work with often so it was a nice challenge to work outside the box. I started with a lovely vintage image from Graphic’s Fairy and framed her out in ribbon wrapped chipboard. I used a dry brush of paint to give it a metallic look. I created a border of cream , a bit of Ivory crochet lace and wound the Satin Swiss dot through it. To top it off there’s a nice poofy bow in gray from the assortment.
Here’s a little close up detail. I trimmed and layered some sweet butterfly images and added them onto a chipboard branch. The purple flowers are made with a bit of the ribbon and a running stitch then a coordinating paper rose wound around. I added a few vintage buttons for accent and handmade tags. Last but not least…a few lovely roses I created with ribbon from the August Ribbon Club Assortment that were topped off with a pearly center.
Adding all the yummy little bit’s and pieces makes this a very dimensional project. I’m sending it to my Dear Friend Virginia in Canada : )
Your next stop is Cheryl’s Blog for another amazing project. Hope you all have lot’s of fun hopping around to all the fabulous designers for inspiration.
