Gate Fold Valentine Card w/Belly Band and Video Tutorial

Standard

Hey there all you fabulous friends! Well it’s the second day of the new year and we are still in a deep freeze here in Michigan. The only way to combat the stir crazies I get  from being stuck inside is to throw myself into holiday crafting.

I’ve created a sweet and simple Gate Fold Valentine Card with Belly Band.  Make sure to scroll to the end of the post for the video tutorial on how I created this card.

I’ve decided on a non traditional color scheme here to coordinate with the holiday bingo card.  With the band on you can see that there’s loads of paper layers and die cuts.

Sliding the band off to reveal the gate fold. I used the bingo card to overlap and add extra detail.

The inside is finished with coordinating patterned papers and is so so sweet with the die cut heart doily.

Another Day in Janeville

Standard

I started off Jane Day with a super terrible headache…but managed to get to the shop in time.  We had a few extra peeps ( Heather and Jane’s main man Chuck) in the mix today and they were all very good sports to listen to me whine and complain about my sore head. I didn’t plan on being productive so I got out my little sewing box and set about making some flowers. Mostly for Jane since here birthday was this week.  Happy Birthday my very dear friend…love ya millions : )

I did make one of my extra poofy glitter and lace flowers for her….but with the attention span of a small child I got bored and started making little yo-yo flowers and I have to say I am hooked. They were lot’s of fun to finish off with buttons and pearls. Jane made some spectacular thank you cards and used the little flowers for embellishment. I made a few for myself and with my usual more is better philosophy….I glued them all on the same card lol.

I was going to call this my “Bee Happy” card….but that does seem a little corny. I used a few patterns from My Mind’s Eye and layered them over a chocolate colored card stock. Next came a sweet little vintage image print out and an ephemera piece from Pink Paislee. I did a bit of inking here but not too much…and added a nice creme colored bow with button.

I am lovin these little yo-yo’s. They stitched up in no time at all and lend a very homespun quality to my card. Be on the lookout for more projects with these as I am now obsessed with making them lol.

I also managed to give my Scooter Kitty a bath tonight after work. This went much better than I had expected. Maybe he thought he was at the spa???? Silly boy. He doesn’t look too mad about the whole prospect…but he isn’t wanting for attention the way he usually does in the evening. Might be pouting?

I’m thinking a glass of wine while I wait for my boy’s to get home from Scouts. Hope you all enjoy your evening : )

Early Bird

Standard

Morning to all. I know this is early for me to post…but I’m a busy little bee today I  don’t want to forget or run out of time.

Still playin with my London Market goodies. This is a really sweet card with a ton of details. The papers are all from Pink Paislee. This whole line matches and works together beautifully.  I cut some lovely scallops for a girly look.

Anything with flowers and banners and birds is for me!!!! Put all three into one project and I am in love.

I inked the already ready already banner pieces from the ephemera kit and added a ruffle of doily at the top. They’re strung on twine for a natural look and finished off with some pretty little hand painted roses is a pale creamy beige.

More of the painted flowers : ) Just a little added fiber to soften the edges. I really love the spool tops with the coordinating decals. I’ve been using them in place of buttons. I did add an additional button to round out this corner.

Okay that’s all for me today….gotta get going running errands. A few final measurements from the shop and move in a few items so we can get to work this weekend. Yayyy. I should mention that I am really  grateful for all the time and hard work from my little family crew. I couldn’t do it without them : ) If I have time later I might give you all a little sneak peek picture before we move everything in.

So Predictable

Standard

My delivery of paper goodies came today oh boy!!!! I unpacked the box intending only to make sure we got the entire order. But about oh…..32 seconds later…I was cutting and inking lol.

This paper is from Glitz. I really really really really love it. The vintage images are preprinted on tags called Whatnots. I layered a few here to get a shabby chic look.

I tattered and inked the flowers to give them some age. I think the colors match perfectly : ) The Parisien image is from Graphics Fairy.

These flowers are extra poofy. The edges of the paper layers are inked with Frayed Burlap Distress Ink from Tim Holtz.

I sewed a few of the papers for added detail.

I had to include this last picture as it has a bit of the ruffled edge of the new cake plate my sweetie got for me last weekend. I must have been a good girl because he also gifted me this super fabulous PINK PURSE!!!! Oh how I love it.

Not to worry….it’s faux. No alligators were harmed…or dyed pink in the making of this awesome new bag. Did I mention that I love it???? Thank you sweetie for being so generous.

Busy Busy Busy

Work on the shop now is going at a dizzying pace and I’m really optimistic that we will be celebrating our grand reopening April 1st. How’s that for soon huh????? We’ve got new fixtures waiting in the garage and lot’s of stock coming in. The new and improved Polly’s will even be getting a wonderful makeover. Here’s a little sneaky peek for ya : )

How’s that for a tease???

I did get myself inspired today to create a vintage styled card with shabby chic colors.

Another beautiful image from Graphic’s Fairy : ) I just can get enough of her fabulous images.

I trimmed this flourishy border from a sheet of Webster’s Pages paper and gave a pearly accent with Liquid Pearls.

Pretty flowers and ribbon give this card a decidedly feminine touch.

I’m saving this card as a little gifty for my very dear friend Jane. I thought of her as soon as I had it done…I think it’s just her style and a nice way to let her know how much I miss spending time with her playing paper. : )
