December Linky Party with Crafty Secrets

Good Morning Peeps! It’s the day of our December Linky Party with Crafty Secrets.  The theme for this month was anything goes. So I’m all like…you know maybe I need to make a non-Christmas project..just to see if I remember how. I think I managed okay.  You should be coming to me from the wonderful and lovely Miss Kathy. If you’re just getting started you can click HERE to go to the beginning. I created a Butterfly Card that I think will be perfect for just about any occasion….

For my tutorial I’m demonstrating adding texture to your projects simply by covering with a small stencil and and filling in with texture paste or whipped spakle. I added a quatrofoil to the left corner of the patterned paper and a live sentiment to the top right.  You want to do this after you’ve trimmed and inked your paper and after the ink is very well dried so it won’t run under the Spackle.

Butterfly Card Crafty Secrets 4Butterfly Card Crafty Secrets 2Butterfly Card Crafty Secrets 1I’m using patterned papers and images from the Creating with Vintage Typography CD from Crafty Secrets. I’m also using the fabulous Chantilly Lace Frame Die from Crafter’s Companion and Chevron Striped Twill in Champagne from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

Okay now click on over to the fabulous Miss Michelle to keep on hopping. Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

Halloween Stand Display with Petaloo and Crafty Secrets

Hey there peeps! Happy Saturday to you all! I’m just dropping in to share a fun Halloween Stand Display I created with the Crafty Secrets Creating With Vintage Halloween CD.

Halloween Stand Display 1Not conventional Halloween colors….but it sure has a festive holiday vibe.

Halloween Stand Display 2I added the pumpkin face image to a sweet little scalloped tin then created a “wreath” with black netting ribbon and loads of Petaloo flowers and berry picks.

Halloween Stand Display 3Can’t go wrong with Black Plaid ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon for a generous loopy bow. I also tucked in some  Antique Gold Burlap String bows to break up the dark colors and to match the flowers.

Halloween Stand Display 4For additional detail I printed the tag sheet from the cd extra tiny and joined them to make a fun banner shape then worked it around and under the wreath.

Halloween Stand Display 5To give the image a nice finished edge I topped it off with Tim Holtz black tinsel trim.

Funny story about this project I think we can all relate to. As crafters we are always on the look out for great bases to start our projects with. We have a local discount store that I peruse occasionally to find unique shapes or objects I can layer up with paper and trimmings. Such is the case with this nice wooden stand. So I listed the project in the online shop and it sold right away to one of my fav peeps. In my efforts to locate a box I could ship it in…I neglected to take the sticker from the discount store off the back. Boy is she gonna get a laugh when she sees it. But hey…it happens to all of us and we learn everyday…so the moral of the story is…make fabulous art….but remember to check for stickers before you ship sold items lol.

Okay that’s all for me…wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

August Linky Party with Crafty Secrets

Hey there Paper Peeps. Time again for another fun Linky Party with the Design Team from Crafty Secrets. For this months theme we are challenged to create a mixed media project…something that can be used as home decor. I am so lucky to have a sneak peek of the projects and they are gonna knock your socks off.  I have used the images and papers to create a digital collage which I framed to create a wipe or dry erase board.  I had one before but the kiddos were just using it to leave me grocery lists ugg. This time it’s only to be used for nice notes and I love you’s.

home dec 1Here’s how I made it….

home dec 31. Start with a dry erase marker. 2. wrap marker in coordinating ribbon (be careful to place this so it will not be difficult to write with.)  3. Good ol Velcro to attach the pen to the frame. 4. attach small section of Velcro to ribbon on pen. 5. With hot glue carefully add a loopy ribbon bow to opposite side of pen. 6. Top bow off with button.

home dec 41. Store bought 8×10 frame. 2. Add digital collage inside the frame. 3. Attach pen to frame with Velcro.

home dec 2Write something lovely inside frame. I only wish this was my handwriting….I added it with the computer (she hangs her head in shame.) My handwriting is about as good as an average 5 year old so for the purpose of demonstration I let the computer do the work for me : )

Crafty Secrets Supplies:

$.99 Papers~Butterfly Fairies, Letter Press Journal. Vintage images from Creating with Vintage Patterns CD.

Really Reasonable Ribbon: Satin Swiss Dots on Black.

I encourage you to check out the other fabulous projects from the team..they are too awesome! Just visit Crafty Secrets Heartwarming Vintage for the link list!

Okay that’s all for me. Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

Vintage Children in Window Card

Well hello there Peeps! I’ve lost tack of what day it is as my boys are still away at Philmont Boyscout Camp.   Seems like they’ve been gone forever : (  I’m pretty sure it’s a weekend day though because Scooter the cat woke me up at 5 am for no reason and he never does that during the week lol.  I’m dropping in with my mug of Traverse City cherry coffee to share a card I created for Crafty Secrets.  Vintage Children in Window Card.

window children 1 This is the shabby chicest card I’ve made in quite a while.

window children 4Maybe I did…maybe I didn’t go overboard with the flowers and ribbon….but I think it’s pretty dreamy.

window children 3This is a combination of  Petaloo and Mulberry flowers.  The leaves were cut with a Sizzix die. I’ll admit it took awhile to become friends with this particular die. I wish I could say I pick up every craft tool and am instantly an expert at it. I’ve given up on this die a few times and threw it back in the bin…but perseverance paid off and now I think I can work it successfully. I used white paper and inked it with Tim Holltz Crushed Olive Distress Ink. I added a few loopy bows of Ivory Burlap String to fill in the arrangement.

window children 2This bow is created with Pink Chevron Stripe on Twill ribbon from Really Reasonable Ribbon. Another Mulberry rose and a few tiny buds tucked in.

window children 5Loving the dimensional effect from all the layered flowers and trim : )   Printed papers and image are from Crafty Secrets…Wild Roses Paper, Birds and Bloom Digital Paper Kit, CD2 Creating with Vintage Illustrations.

Okay that’s all for me…whatever day it is..I’ll be back in the shop playing paper to escape the heat. Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

Order of the Arrow Digital Layout with Crafty Secrets

Hey there Peeps! I’m sharing my very first all digital layout today.  I know I always say I really like to get my hands dirty while crafting and so I avoided digital scrapbooking. How can it be fun unless you’ve glued yourself to the table like I always do??? Let me tell you know..I am kicking myself for waiting because it was soooo much fun. And I can share them online for the grandparents who don’t want to get big bulky scrapbooks filling up their shelves. I used all digital images and papers from Crafty Secrets….a total mix and match. Andddd I still have my required elebenty hundred layers!

CS Boy Scout LayoutThis is a pic of my youngest Son Jonathan receiving his Order of the Arrow Sash with the Boy Scouts.  A very special honor among the troop and I’m so thrilled that all 3 of my boys have been initiated into the order.  I used  CD6 Vintage Christmas, CD1 Vintage Patterns and CD3 Typography. I hope I’ve inspired you to try digital scrapbooking..I’ll be making more layouts this way now that I know how much fun it is!!

Okay that’s all for me…wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G
