Butterfly Tag with Vintage Sparkle Pens

Hey there Peeps! Just dropping in this morning to share a tag I created with some lovely stamps and the new Vintage Sparkle Pens from Crafter’s Companion.

I colored this stamped butterfly with the Vintage Sparkle Pens and was impressed with how well they blended.

The background is also stamped and layered with a second smaller tag. I left some room to tuck in some colored flowers.

You can see the lovely shimmery sparkle. I tucked in some dyed cheesecloth, metal embellishments, and tiny micro beads.

Hey there Peeps! Well you know what good thing happens on the 1st of the month??? Yep you got it…I get to share a project I created with the all new May  Ribbon Club Assortment.

This selection is too awesome for all the patriotic and summer holiday projects I’m planning…but with it’s homespun colors and patterns it works perfectly with this country inspired card I created.  Stand By Me Greeting Card.

This gorgeous paper is from the BoBunny Juliet Collection.  I’m also using a lovely bit of Molly White Crocheted Lace, a few pearly headed stick pins, and a paper die cut from the Crafter’s Companion Chantilly Lace Stamping Frame.

New Day of the Dead Stamps From Crafter’s Companion

Hey there Peeps. Dropping in to share a great new collection from Sheena at Crafter’s Companion. Day of the Dead is such a big thing…with it’s sugar skulls and spooky cool flowers and sentiments.   I used several of the stamps and layered them up to create 1 large collage then colored it in with my fav Spectrum Noir Markers. Layered in with pops of color from the cardstock and bow and this is the perfect décor item for such a fun holiday.

Orange Dragonfly Card

Hey there Peeps! Dropping in to share a project that was really inspired by how I could use my Fabulous Spectrum Noir Markers to alter and customize embellishments and trim. I colored on pretty much everything I could get my hands on and the results were amazing.

I used a nice variety of stamps from Crafter’s Companion to create a great background and focal images then had a good ol time coloring my embellishments to create a mixed media inspired card.

These paper flowers and ribbon trims were tinted with the markers. I also added some inking and glitter to the edges of the largest anchor flower to give it a little extra oomph since it’s the focal flower.

The pearly accents took the marker really well which surprised me because I was expecting it to smudge off….but it didn’t yay!!

The flowers for this small arrangement were actually white poinsettia Christmas stem flowers….they colored just fine….but the marker did soak through so if you try this…please work over layers of paper towel to absorb the excess.

I’m quite pleased  with the outcome of this experiment…I’ll definitely consider altering my embellishments from now to customize them for my projects!

Party Time Tags

OMGosh Peeps I am having such a great time coloring with the new AquaBlend Pencils!!! I admit I do not know the first thing about watercolor….but these are so easy to use even I can do it. I created a set of tags fit for a party using the Party Time Stamp Set , lots of background texture stamps and all the fabby pencils with a little chipboard and bling.

On Your Special Day Card

Hey there Peeps! Just dropping in for a quick post to share a very bright and graphically patterned card with hand colored flowers and embossing.

For a graphic card…a simple bow and length of ribbon wrapped around is just the ticket. I chose the Shell Print On Coral Ribbon  from Really Reasonable Ribbon and I think it matches the flowers to perfection!

Love is in the Air Heart Canvas

Hey there Paper Peeps!  Thursday is quickly becoming my favorite day because my sweet friend Barbara and I take over the Gypsy Soul blog and share our projects using the fabulous chippies from GSL.   Today I’m showing a mixed media canvas inspired by my BOLB Kathy who encouraged me to work on a creation for a challenge.   I really love how it turned out. That being said….there were a few times in the process that I thought the only reasonable course of action would be to swear at it..throw it on the floor and stomp on it.  I think we all go through that sometimes with projects right?
Anyhoo enough of my blathering and on to the canvas….

I started with a canvas and some pretty non-traditional colors and of course my big ol pile of chippies!

Since I knew I wanted to layer a fair amount of chippies I kept those neutral so they would pop off the darker background. These flowers were actually hand painted to match at 4 am since the craft store isn’t open then to get ones that coordinated.

The background was color washed then layered with texture paste and a damask stencil.

To create a lot of dimension and build up the layers I used some drywall tape that has a crinkly torn edge and a similar color wash….. then stamped with an itty bitty script.

I’m using the large frame to anchor the focal point which is a heart clipped from Valentine paper then finished with Gelatos and archival inks.  The butterfly chippie is centered on the heart and topped off with a large key ornament…more hand painted flowers and the Love sentiment.

After painting the chippie gears I tucked them in with the dimensional flowers to lighten it up and to draw the eye to the bottom corner.

Valentine Card with Graphic 45’s Children’s Hour with Snapguide Tutorial

Oh how I love a card about love!  The fabulous teeny tiny patterns in the Children’s Hour 6×6 Patterns and Solids Pad are just right for layering so I matted them in a dark chocolate brown and topped them with sweet vintage images from the February Collective page then embellished them with pretty fussy cut and dimensional flowers. There’s also ribbon trim and charming love buttons : ) I am swooning over this very Valentiny card.
