Be Your Own Kind of You Inspirational Art

Standard

Hey there Paper Peeps! Lucky me today is my day to share the project I created specially for the matchup Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts is doing with Canvas Corp Brands.  Thank you Canvas Corp for the lovely selection of paper pretties to play with!

I was inspired by the image from the 7 gypsies Architectures Collection Ornate Frames.

To better coordinate with the flowers I colored over some of the clothing on this pretty vintage lady.

I really loved the texture from the torn out sheet from the Spiral Book so I made sure to leave a good long run of it on the side.

Matching flowers create a nice arrangement here with netting tucked in and topped off with pearly headed stick pins.

More flowers for the top. Dangling keys is a metallic finish to compliment her outfit.

This gorgeous frame is a bit of a nod to shabby chic….and helps to brighten this composition. Real vintage buttons are required here as new buttons would not have the right patina and character .

The inspiration sentiment was clipped from the packaging and the background is packaging too!

These chippies were wiped down to prepare them for altering.

They are finished in flat white paint. The frame is now done and ready to add to my project.

The keys got a layer of antique gold embossing powder and heat set with the tool very close to get a slightly bubbly effect.

Blog Hopping with Really Reasonable Ribbon

Standard

Time again for another fun hop with the folks here at Really Reasonable Ribbon. 10308279_717292838322738_8108547784177054821_n

This month we are sharing the projects we created with the August Ribbon Club Assortment Colors of Autumn.

August Ribbon ClubThese warm colors and rich patterns are so great for all types of fall projects like cards and tags and home décor.

You should be coming to me from my dear friend Gloria. If your just getting started you’ll want to go to the Really Reasonable Ribbon Blog for the beginning of the hop.

I chose to create  décor project. I think the ribbon assortment was a great inspiration to gather up fall themed findings and layer it with textural burlap. Fall Stocking on Etsy

Fall Stocking 1

I’ve got the Fall Stocking hung here in a grapevine wreath that was on a little bakers rack on my porch. I think it’s a great combination with the texture and natural look. I will unfortunately have to replace the wreath with something new as I did not realize this guy was totally falling apart until I tried to move it. I really need to step up my outside décor game!

Fall Stocking 2

The base of this stocking was a premade burlap stocking from Canvas Corp. The papers I layered on came from them as well as the additional burlap sections I added to make the top wider for the florals and bows.

Fall Stocking 3

Just like any holiday stocking for Christmas..you want to add extra details like a toe and heel stripe and matching buttons.

Fall Stocking 4

I usually refer to my bows as extra poofy but this time I’m going for extra bunchy. There are 6 stacked bows here to help fill the space between the large sunflower pick and the stocking base. ergo…..extra bunchy lol. It’s all bunched in there!

Liberty Village with Petaloo and Canvas Corp

Standard

Hey there Peeps! Ginny here dropping in to share a very festive and fun holiday décor creation using the fabulous DIY Flowers and Canvas Corp patterned papers.  I love to make projects in red, white, and blue since they can be displayed for all the summer holidays!!!

Liberty Village 1I’m calling this Liberty Village. A row of tiny houses all decked out in patriotic colors and fun trims.  It’ll be a great addition to my seasonal décor. My hubby is born on the 4th of July so we really go all in for this great holiday! And we get cake…so that’s a win win : )Liberty Village 2These little houses are only about 3 inches square ( before the roof.)  I was able to pack a lot of detail in a small space.Liberty Village 3All lined up they are the perfect size for a shelf. From this angle you can see how the tiny chimneys fit perfectly on the roof peak. I had to do math shudder.Liberty Village 4For this center house I added a few glittery stars on spingy wires nestled into the kraft packaging in the chimney. To finish the tops of the chimneys I added a small length of white lace wrapped around and stapled in place with a tiny staple. Coordinating lace on the bottom of the house is layered over burlap trim. Liberty Village 5This roof peak is all decked out with the DIY Flowers, Red Jeweled Flowers,  glittery branches and ribbon trim.  I sprayed the DIY Flowers with Fireworks Spray to match the chevron stripe in the paper. Tinsel trim on the underside of the roof makes it extra festive

Liberty Village 6Surprise!!! The roofs come off.  From this angle you can see I’ve tucked in another star clipped in with an itty bitty red clothespin.

Liberty Village 7Simply untie the red cord and the little house opens right up to reveal a vintagy image and 3 picture mats for displaying favorite summer pictures.Liberty Village 8I just love how the shades of red, white, and blue are all vintagy and not super bright.Liberty Village 9Each little house has a different image….but the same picture mats.Liberty Village 10

It will be fun to fill up these little houses with our pictures and memories. And we can enjoy them year after year when we decorate for the holiday.

Standard

Hey there Peeps! Ginny here and  I’m dropping in to share the project I created for the Petaloo~Canvas Corp Brand ~Tattered Angels Blog Hop. This is a fabulous brand mashup!!! I started with the pretty patterned papers and altered the flowers using the Glimmer Mists.  Born To Garden Crate with Tags.

Born to Garden Crate with Tags Petaloo Canvas Corp 1

This little crate is chock full of sweet coordinating tags.

Born to Garden Crate with Tags Petaloo Canvas Corp 2

I added a sentiment cut apart to the front of the crate and layered on some gorgeous Petaloo flowers.  I left some of the DIY Flowers unaltered to lighten the arrangement. Pretty graphic ribbon and twine finish it off in style.

Born to Garden Crate with Tags Petaloo Canvas Corp 4

I left the tags in their natural state of kraft brown to accent the crate.

Born to Garden Crate with Tags Petaloo Canvas Corp 3

There are some additional flowers and pretty charm and tag hanging from the ring with a generous amount amount of ribbon.

Born to Garden Crate with Tags Petaloo Canvas Corp 5

The crate is lovely even with the tags removed.

Born to Garden Crate with Tags Petaloo Canvas Corp 6

Each tag has a similar layout to keep a consistent look throughout.

Spacers between the layers help to add dimension and gives additional sturdiness.

The tag backs are finished with coordinating papers and leave plenty of room to add pictures and journaling.

A Grateful Heart Greeting Card

Standard

Hey there Peeps!  Don’t ya just love when you find a perfect sentiment for a greeting card?  I found that very thing with this lovely thought….”Start Today With a Grateful Heart.” Something I try to do everyday because there is always something big or small that brings joy to your life; even if it’s the promise of a warm sunny day. Start Today with a Grateful Heart Greeting Card.

A Greatful Heart Greeting Card 1

I finished the fabby Gypsy Soul Laser Cut Chipboard pieces with a base coat of white acrylic paint then added several layers of metallic paints and sprays. Gold would be flashy and silver would be the wrong tone….so why not both? I love the vintage look and it coordinates so well with the patterned papers.

A Greatful Heart Greeting Card 3
The chippies are layered with the papers and images.  Distressing the edges of the papers helps to add texture and spacers between builds in loads of dimension.

Girls Night Out with Mixology From Canvas Corp Brands

Standard

Hey there Paper Peeps…Ginny here to share a very fun and festive card for a Girls Night Out. I’m very much a country girl myself..we live out in the sticks on a dirt road…which is just about the best place on earth to be….so a night out to me means bon fires and lawn chairs in the back 40. Buttttt if I was the going out type…I think I would want it to be hot pink and black with mixed drinks right? So I created my card to match.

Girls Night Out Card Mixology 1My rule for mixing lots of patterns? Make sure you use a solid border and keep the scale different for each pattern you add. That’s pretty much the only rule I have for card making..except that more is always better.

Girls Night Out Card Mixology 2I added a few pretty flowers and a pink felt doily so there would be no mistaking this is a GIRLY card.

Girls Night Out Card Mixology 3This is a huge bow…remember I said more is better? lol

Girls Night Out Card Mixology 4I finished the inside of my card with the coordinating patterned papers.

Girls Night Out Card Mixology 5

This card was so fun to make even if it’s not my normal go to style. Change can be a good thing right?
