Winter Snow Day Greeting Card with G45

Well hello there Peeps! I’m sorry to share that we are still in the icy grasp of winter here in Michigan : (  We haven’t been above freezing in so long I can’t remember.  Keeping busy in my studio helps to combat the effects of the shorter colder days.

Today I’m sharing a card created with the gorgeous Seasons collection from Graphic 45. I just love that this collection is specifically seasons rather than holidays because winter does not end with Christmas ( at least not here in Michigan lol.)

I also really love winter birds. They’re just so sweet and delicate.

The cut aparts make it so easy to add layers.

I’ve drawn inspiration for the color palate for the flower selections. Mixing sizes and textures adds so much detail. There are also tiny berry picks, ribbon, and twine tucked in to build up the arrangement.

These little friends are adhered with spacers to bring in a lot of dimension. Tucking in a crisp white doily helps to break up the busy patterns. Altered chipboard snowflakes are the perfect detail for a winter themed card.

I’ve brought the flowers and chippies up to the top as well to balance the larger arrangement. some are nestled under a curled layer of the cut apart.

A bit of faux snow to soften the edges of the papers and real vintage buttons complete this card.

Bird and Blooms on Blue

Hey there Paper Peeps…Ginny here and I am so happy that Spring is right around the corner.  I’m in the mood for some birds and flowers…..so here is a card with both on a fabulous blue stripe and paisley.

Crafty Secrets Vintage Bird on BlueIsn’t that Light Blue Chevron Stripe on Twill ribbon just scrumptious??? I topped it with Light Blue Burlap String from Really Reasonable Ribbon and a button and tag : ) The perfect combo for a Spring card!

IMG_5088I used a combination of Mulberry flowers with handcrafted stamped and layered flowers topped off with pearly accents. There’s also a bit of painted chipboard peeking out.

IMG_5089I layered Blue Paisley Stripes and images from the Vintage Illustration CD from Crafty Secrets and a beautiful dark robins egg blue card stock to separate the patterns.

I finished the inside with just a neutral card stock with stitching.

I used my Tonic Distresser to tatter up the edges..I love the effect after inking…but hate the mess….it’s worth it though so I guess I will just clean up lol.
Okay Peeps that’s all for me….wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

Plants In My Yard…..a Beginners Guide

Finally warm enough outside for the plants to start coming in. Here is a brief tour…I do not remember the names of most of these plant-trees. I will refer to them as I call them IRL.

We have a pair of these lovely flowering trees in our front yard. I call them “Bee Food”

Under these trees sound like the revving of motorcycles in the distance…there are hundreds of bees…thankfully I am not afraid of them!

Rabbit Food:

The packaging at the plant store lied….this shrub was only supposed to get to 12 inches across.

IMG_3426No matter how careful you are…..I will attack you with my thorns shrub:

The ” I can’t remember if I planted these…or are they weeds???”

The reason we have sooo many deer in our yard:

The “You better enjoy them while they last flowering tree…one good wind or rain storm and it’s about to snow pink petals up in here!”

IMG_3448 IMG_3449

The “Shouldn’t these be bigger by now bushes”

Whole lotta purply flowers:

Whole lotta lavender flowers:

Not tooo Pink Shabby Swallow Card

So while Jane and I were having our regular playing paper date yesterday I asked her if the card I was working on was “Too pink???” Jane says……” You can never have enough pink!!!” So here is my not too much pink card…

IMG_1138I created the base layers of this card with the Shabby Chic Pink Patchwork Background from Ephemera’s Vintage Garden. The Shabby Chic Swallows bird image can be found here.  I think Jane’s right…..not too pink lol.

IMG_1141I layered a natural burlap trim with pink edge with a wide pink gingham   under the vintage images, and topped them off with a nice big bow. These trims are from Really Reasonable Ribbon : )

IMG_1143More crocheted flowers here …this time I layered a large cream flower with a small pink one and topped it off with a super cute pink checkered brad. I created the flower in the center with lot’s of paint…ink….Stickles….cappuccino spray mist and glitter…then a super bedazzled center.

IMG_1145With all the layers and handcrafted flowers…this card is very dimensional….but not toooo pink : )

Don’t forget to stop in tomorrow for another project created with images from Ephemera’s Vintage Garden…..but don’t worry…it’s not pink : )

Well I’ve shoveled my way to the garage so the grown ups can get to work…the lucky kiddos did get their much wished for snow day.

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative. G
