Advent Calendar with Video Tutorial

Standard

Hey there Peeps! I’m super sorry about this post going up so late. I planned to work on it last night so it could go live this morning……but we were out shoveling very late  and I was too tired to edit the video we prepared for this project.

I am really excited though to share this project. I created an advent calendar for my Dear Hubby. He loves really good beer so he will be getting one for each day of the 12 days of Christmas as a special reward just for him.

Advent Calendar Polly's Paper Studio 01

I’m using Echo Park papers with a fun retro vintage vibe.

Tiny envelopes create the pockets to tuck in the bingo cards with numbers on the back.

Fussy cut stickers are festive accents. This pocket even has twine wrapped around.

Loads of altered chipboard for dimension. Sequins are a fun detail to add and looks a bit like snowflakes.

I’ve added glitter to a few of the sentiment stickers and bling to the chipboard. You can never have enough bling…especially at Christmas.

Last but not least jingle bells, buttons, ribbon trims, and a wooden clothespin.

Please enjoy this video we’ve prepared on how I created the base for this advent calendar….

Merry and Bright Snow Globe Christmas Greeting Card

Standard

Hello everyone! I’m still having so much fun playing with my Christmas crafting supplies and I’ve created a sweet card to share today with some holiday elements and some surprise additions.

Merry and Bright Snow Globe Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 01

This little snowman is just too cute.  It’s really a snow globe…..but I got a little carried away with the flowers…tee hee. And look…..vintage buttons. I bet you never saw that coming lol.

Merry and Bright Snow Globe Christmas Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 02

I bet you weren’t expecting blue flowers on a Christmas card right? But I think they look perfectly coordinated to the image. I used a bit of faux snow to give them more of a wintry look.  There are also silvery  berry clusters tucked in along with red flowers and twine.

I decided to use a double cardstock matting here to really make the layers pop. I really love this combination of red plaid and blue.

This smaller arrangement balances the larger one. I’ve added Stickles to the leaves to accent them and make them more festive. You can see I’ve added a few pearls too….because you can never have enough bling.

Inside the card is finished with coordinating papers.

Vintage Santa Bingo Christmas Greeting Card

Standard

Hey there Peeps! Did I ever tell you how much I love adding GSL chippies to my Christmas projects? Well I do…..so much. And I can alter them for any style so that makes them pretty much the perfect embellishment. For this card I’m mixing a bit of vintage with a bit of retro and I think it’s pretty fabulous!

Vintage Santa Bingo Greeting Card

I used the chipboard to create a bit of a frame for this Santa image.

I choose the colors to coordinate with the papers.

And layered them up to create a lovely focal point on this card.

Then topped it off with gorgeous flowers and holiday embellishments.

A bit of ribbon and vintage buttons and voila…Christmas perfection : )

I selected the chippies and wiped them down to prepare them for altering.

Embossing powder is a great way to add detail. I’m using silver for the frame and metallic red for the berries.

I finished the snowflakes in white with a sparkly top coat and the stars in chartreuse because it’s fun to say and it looks very vintagy.

Here’s the pan for the arrangement. It looks so festive!!!

Loving the retro and vintage style mixed up.

Happy 4th of July Wall Hanging

Standard

Happy 1st of the month peeps! Just dropping in to share my first project with the new Patriotic Assortment Ribbon Club Selection.

This will be perfect for all the summer holiday projects! Great solids with fun and festive patterns!
I created a wall hanging just because I was in the mood to make extra bows lol.

Stars and stripes are my favorite Americana themed patterns. I die cut the base and added layers of 110 lb cardstock to ensure that it would be nice and sturdy.

The focal image is a digital tag from my shop Patriotic Tags Collage. It’s got a metal eyelet with thick twine pulled through and glass glitter stars peeking out from behind.

Coordinating flowers are layered in with Spiral Stamens and a large chipboard sentiment.

The crisp white paper doily works great to break up the busy patterns.

Isn’t this bow fabulous??? There’s a solid taffeta with the satin quatrefoil on top then twine and last but not least an epoxy patterned brad.

Petaloo Flowers~ Darjeeling Blue Anenomes.
Okay that’s all for me. I can’t wait to get more projects started with this ribbon club selection….and get my house all decked out for the summer holidays : ) G

Happy New Year Layered Tag

Standard

It’s almost time to ring in the new year Peeps and I’m pretty excited about the  adventures that await in 2017. I created this sweet tag with a vintagy New Year’s Bingo Images on layers of Nesting Ovals and topped of with Gardenia’s.
I cut these Gardenias from salmon colored cardstock then shaped them and finished the edges with heat set embossing powder. There’s also flourish leaves and spiral stamens.

Using spacers between the layers adds a lot of depth. The tag is topped off with perfectly coordinating ribbons and a pretty pearly resin rose.

Mini Folded Album Tutorial

Standard

I’ve sent my sweetie and my little guy off to scout summer camp this week…and I miss them terribly. This year I tucked a sweet little  folded paper mini book into D.H.’s duffel  bag so he’ll know I’m thinking about him while he’s gone. It’s got tiny tags tucked into the pockets to add sweet nothings. Best off all…it started out as a 1 sheet wonder.  I did add a fair bit of details….not so easy in a masculine book It was a great way to use up some bits from the scrap and salvage box : )

Here is a preview of the folded book….IMG_1731

Here is the inside with the pockets…. don’t worry…I’ve written all the mushy stuff on the backs of the tags lol.  I’ve added just a bit of  Seam Binding in Tobacco to 2 of the tags. If I had done all 3 it may have been too bulky. I used a thin width of brown trim from Really Reasonable Ribbon to tie this little book together. You will want to choose the color that coordinates with your paper selections.

IMG_1733Here is the back of book….I used some thin chipboard, die cuts, and stickers. Lot’s of detail…but not too girlie. I should also mention that I’ve inked the folded edges heavily.

IMG_1737

Okay…so here is the super easy tutorial. I choose to use Scor-Tape for the adhesive….since it will be taking a beating squished in a bag of camping gear.

I think these would be a great way to give a gift card…or folded up cash…for a more personal gift. Or just a little something to let someone know you are thinking about them : )

I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) Huggs Ginny

Yep I Knew It

Standard

I knew once I had this card done it would move right into favorite position. My card from yesterday didn’t get to be #1 for long huh? I’m really quite smitten with these darling vintage children.

I used several patterns of My Mind’s Eye Paper and layered on a few vintage images. The ticket is from Graphic’s Fairy : )

I used a sewing pattern scrap to create a sweet ruffle simply by doing a running stitch through the top and gathering it until I had the length I wanted…then adhered it to the back of a doily trimmed from a sheet of M.M.E. paper. As you can see I inked all the layers well. A pretty cream colored ribbon and bow accent the vintage patterns nicely. I found two chunky chipboard flowers that coordinated perfectly.

There’s a few vintage buttons with string to finish off this super sweet charmer. I’m noticing several specs of glitter that have managed to cling to the card LOL.  What can I say??? When you get the glitter out it has a mind of it’s own. : )
