Hello there friends and crafty peeps! Time again for another project created especially for the Frilly and Funkie Design Team. I have to say I’m really loving this new team! Everyone is so kind and helpful and looking out for one another. That kind of community spirit really buoys my sense of belonging.
The Host for this challenge is Jenny…..
“There are so many ways to add metallics to your projects, from embossing powders and pastes, metallic finish cards and foils, metallic inks and paints to metal embellishments. And you can leave them untreated for a touch of glamour or alter them for an aged or more grungy look. Show us how you like to use metals on your vintage or shabby chic projects.”
I created a shabby chic inspired greeting card with loads of pretty metallic accents….
I’m mixing some beautiful Prima collections for this card. Fruit Paradise provides that oh so sweet pink check and the rest is from Apricot Honey. It was a perfect fit for this challenge as it already has pretty gold foil details.
There’s a double matting of cardstock here one a soft gray and one a pale gold…just to bring that richness right on out to the corners.
I incorporated that sweet plaid as a strip to act as a faux ribbon to layer over the pretty gold mesh ribbon.
These Prima flowers are the perfect shade and size added as a small arrangement here with some die cut foliage and a bow tucked in. I’ve created a subtle layer of stamped script that’s covered in embossing powder and heat set for a shiny finish.
The small cut apart from the patterned papers has more of that double matting and takes center stage as a true focal point. There’s chipboard stickers added as well and pretty metal filigree accents. For the finishing touches I’ve added some gold Ice Resin flakes and large gold sequins for a little sparkle and shine.
As always, the Design Team will choose their top four picks, and the winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog. The next three will receive Top 3 badges to display on their blogs. Everyone who enters and follows the rules will be entered into the draw to have the chance to win a $25 spending spree at The Funkie Junkie Boutique. I hope you will whip up a fabulous project featuring metallics and join us on the Frilly and funkie Blog to play along.

I don’t enter challenges, but I love to see the entries of others. Lovely card!
I love the gleam of gold peeking out amidst the flowers and foliage – such a pretty card.

I love all the subtle ways you added metallic touches – like the heat embossed stamped script. Very romantic card.
Beautiful shabby chic mix of pinks and gold! Love the texture from the gold trim and then the fantastic layering of flowers and ephemera! Sweet card!
What a gorgeous card Ginny! I love how the touches of gold add an extra dimension to the pale pinks and gingham checks through the delicate layers and its wonderful to see how these papers can be used together so well.
This card is so pretty with a real feminine feel to it. Love the layers and all the floral elements that give it such dimension.
