Cherished Greeting Card for Frilly And Funkie

Standard

Hello there friends and crafty peeps!  Time again for another project created especially for the Frilly and Funkie Design Team. I have to say I’m really loving this new team! Everyone is so kind and helpful and looking out for one another. That kind of community spirit really buoys my sense of belonging.

The Host for this challenge is Jenny…..

“There are so many ways to add metallics to your projects, from embossing powders and pastes, metallic finish cards and foils, metallic inks and paints to metal embellishments. And you can leave them untreated for a touch of glamour or alter them for an aged or more grungy look. Show us how you like to use metals on your vintage or shabby chic projects.”

I created a shabby chic inspired greeting card with loads of pretty metallic accents….

Prima Apricot Honey A4 Paper Pad & Chipboard Stickers Prima Fruit Paradise A4 Paper Pad & Ripe Berry Flowers Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder May Art Gold Mesh Ribbon Art Alchemy Clear Stamp #6 Antique Gold Ice Resin Round Flower Gold Plated

I’m mixing some beautiful Prima collections for this card. Fruit Paradise provides that oh so sweet pink check and the rest is from Apricot Honey. It was a perfect fit for this challenge as it already has pretty gold foil details.

Prima Apricot Honey A4 Paper Pad & Chipboard Stickers Prima Fruit Paradise A4 Paper Pad & Ripe Berry Flowers Ranger Liquid Platinum Embossing Powder May Art Gold Mesh Ribbon Art Alchemy Clear Stamp #6 Antique Gold Ice Resin Round Flower 02

There’s a double matting of cardstock here one a soft gray and one a pale gold…just to bring that richness right on out to the corners.

I incorporated that sweet plaid as a strip to act as a faux ribbon to layer over the pretty gold mesh ribbon.

These Prima flowers are the perfect shade and size added as a small arrangement here with some die cut foliage and a bow tucked in. I’ve created a subtle layer of stamped script that’s covered in embossing powder and heat set for a shiny finish.

The small cut apart from the patterned papers has more of that double matting and takes center stage as a true focal point. There’s chipboard stickers added as well and pretty metal filigree accents.  For the finishing touches I’ve added some gold Ice Resin flakes and large gold sequins for a little sparkle and shine.

As always, the Design Team will choose their top four picks, and the winner will be invited to join us in a Guest DT spot at The Funkie Junkie Boutique Blog. Love This Greeting Card

Standard

Hey there crafty peeps and GSL fans! Ginny here to share a sweet vintagy greeting card created with gorgeous chipboard from Gypsy Soul Laser Cuts.

I am very in love with the new Daisy Frame Circle. It’s got so much detail and it’s the perfect size!!!

I paired it with some pretty scrolls from the Henna Doodles 1  set for a lovely layered look.

The larger chippies really help the smaller image to fill the space in the middle of the card.

I’ve added some pretty coordinating flowers and a silvery balloon charm for a bit of sparkle.

Cutting the patterned paper with a banner shaped die really helps to add loads of detail.

I coated the chipboard pieces with flat white acrylic paint and allowed them to dry.

The scrolly pieces were then given a coat of embossing powder then heat set for a nice sparkly finish.

Squeeze the Day Card for Frilly and Funkie

Standard

Hello there friends and crafty peeps! I’m just pleased as punch today to be sharing my very first project created for the Frilly and Funkie Design Team. What an honor to be joining this this group of talented artists working with gorgeous supplies!

Suzz is hosting the new challenge themed It’s Heating up….

“July is when the weather here in the Midwest really starts to turn warm and muggy. This is the inspiration for our challenge to interpret the heat with using one or more of the following colors: Yellow, Red or Orange. Your challenge is to create a vintage or shabby chic project where the main color is yellow, orange or red. I can’t wait to see how you turn up the heat in your art!”

Working with the theme It’s Heating Up I’m inspired to create with the beautiful Fruit Paradise collection from Prima. Nothing says summer to me like bountiful fruits just waiting to be picked and enjoyed.

I’m just loving the lemon image on the journal card.  It makes me crave a nice cold glass of lemonade right now!

The image is elevated to focal point when added with the Baseboard Frame and accented with  Prills.
