Destination Happiness Mini Album for BoBunny

Standard

Well hello there friends and BoBunny fans!
Today I’m sharing a fun mini album created with the World Traveler collection.

Destination Happiness Mini Scrapbook Album Polly's Paper Studio 01

A mini album is such a great way to document a special trip. It’s a walk down memory lane and can also be used as home decor propped on a shelf or table. That way your friends and family know they are invited to flip through and enjoy your pictures and journaling.

I started by gathering the collection and embellishments.  This is where the layering process really begins for me as I’m choosing elements that fit my project and look good together.

Word Traveler_Mini Album_Ginny_May28_013

I originally thought I would create a card…but once I started layering I decided that I could make this a layout for the cover of a mini album.

Word Traveler_Mini Album_Ginny_May28_014

I created a mini album base so I would have the perfect size for these elements. Mat board works great for the cover as it’s easy to cut but still very sturdy.

The inside cover has a nice large area for bigger pictures. The little tag is from the Combo Sticker sheet. I used foam tabs to pop this up to build dimension. The banner is also from the sticker sheet.

The cut apart sheet has fabby postcard images that I used to create a pocket. There’s a uniquely shaped die cut from the Noteworthy collection to provide a place to add journaling.Destination Happiness Mini Scrapbook Album Polly's Paper Studio 04

I’m alternating the patterns and scale to create raised sections for pictures.Destination Happiness Mini Scrapbook Album Polly's Paper Studio 05

Tabbed topped stickers and Layered Chipboard Stickers are great accents for this set of pages.Destination Happiness Mini Scrapbook Album Polly's Paper Studio 06

This pocket is created by layering a strip of tags cut from the patterned papers onto the stripe. Matting is very important to keep this from looking busy.Destination Happiness Mini Scrapbook Album Polly's Paper Studio 07

I fussy cut a few of the tags and popped them up just for a little extra detail. The tag in the pocket is a section of the large die cut from Noteworthy.Destination Happiness Mini Scrapbook Album Polly's Paper Studio 08

You can never have enough pockets in a mini to tuck in all the little bits and pieces so here’s another for the last page.  Those tiny suitcase stickers are so charming! One more die cut in the pocket for journaling.Destination Happiness Mini Scrapbook Album Polly's Paper Studio 09

The back cover is finished similar to the front with a tag and some stickers and twine.

Celebrate USA Group Post with Authentique Papers

Standard

The crew at Authentique Papers have created projects to share today for a group post to  honor those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  I am proud to be a part of a team and a company that shows it’s patriotism. It’s been so wonderful to collaborate behind the scenes with the designers for our creations and to hear the stories of their families involvement with the armed forces.Celebrate USA Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 01

How can I possibly put into words how thankful and grateful I am to those  who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom? There are not enough words for me to articulate the gravity of what they have given us. Our family is fiercely patriotic given that we have so many  that have served in the armed forces. The next generation to serve …..my youngest Son has decided on a career in the military  because he believes in answering a calling that is bigger than he is.

Celebrate USA Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 03

I created my own stars and stripes background using the Spectrum Cardstocks. To add texture I embossed stars onto the white stripes and tattered the edges of the red.

Celebrate USA Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 04

There’s a double layer of die cut doily topped with sequins. I created a little hanging tag for the center with a star die to create a frame for the blue cardstock then added a twirly metal hanger. Iv’e included bit of raffia and a few small flowers to top off the tag.

Celebrate USA Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 02

To finish off this card I layered on flowers in coordinating colors along with some ribbon trim and additional die cut stars.

The stars and stripes have always been so important to me for what they stand for and even more so now. Let freedom ring now and forever. I hope you take a moment today during the festivities and parades and bbqs to think about the true meaning of this day.

I encourage you to check out the Group Post at Authentique to see all the amazing projects created by the designers and hear their stories of military service.

Patriotic Tag with Printable from Polly’s Paper Studio with Video Tutorial

Standard

Hey there crafty friends and happy Sunday to all of you. I finally got a chance to have a play with the images from our new Vintage Stars and Stripes printable from our shop. I’m so into making seasonal decor for the holidays so I decided to create a little tag.

Vintage Patritic Tag Polly's Paper Studio 01

I opened the printable file in Word then clicked on the image and drug the corner to size them to fit on smaller projects. This is printed with an HP Laser printer on Neenah Bright White paper and I think it looks great!

I topped the image with some flowers I created while we were on our camping trip last weekend. It was so nice to have a crafty project to work on while it rained. To fill in this arrangement I tucked in some die cut stars and loopy twine bows.

Vintage Patritic Tag Polly's Paper Studio 03 After attaching a wire hanger I finished the tag off with some plaid bows, more loopy twine, and coordinating jingle bells.

Please enjoy this process video of how I created the tag….

You can check out loads of crafty inspiration on our YouTube Channel.

Here’s a look at that printable…..

For this project I printed them smaller to fit on the tag. They would work great too for cards, labels, banners, and just about any crafty home decor project.

Celebrate a Happy Birthday Card and Tag with Tutorial for Authentique

Standard
Hey there friends and crafty Peeps! So excited to be sharing the projects I created with the Party collection from Authentique. I love all things vintage and retro and these papers are chock full of details from days gone by.

Not to mention how bright and cheerful the colors are.  I mean how could you not be happy to get a greeting card with such vibrancy? If I were still celebrating Birthdays I would be!

I really went to town layering the patterns. What keeps this card from being too busy is the double layering of matting. The Spectrum cardstock coordinates perfectly! Varying the scale works to keep the visual clutter in check, For the bottom layer I’ve chosen that super sweet and tiny party confetti. It’s a pattern…but it acts as a neutral on this card because the scale is so small.

I’ve taken a fussy cut image from the cut aparts and utilized it as a focal image. It’s popped up an spacers which  adds depth.

A sweet treat is always welcome on a Birthday card and this one comes in the form of a die cut from the collection. More spacers behind this element to build the layers and Stickles to build in the detail.  There’s also a clip and coordinating flowers.
That back ground with the banner pattern is from the 6 x 6 paper pad. The scale was perfect to work in the banner without it being lost behind those adorable retro party guests.

Why not add a large sentiment ?  This one carries the banner theme to the bottom of the card and comes from the die cuts.  I did layer it over the striped section to punch up the patterns.

I was having a blast working with this collection so I created 2 projects for today’s post! This large tag is full of retro party style.
A sweet arrangement of flowers in coordinating colors act to anchor the bottom of this tag.  It also hides the cut edge for this party planner.

I’ve used more of the oh so fabby Spectrum cardstock as matting. There is a layer of adhesive foam tucked in between the layers to give this tag loads of dimension.

Altered chipboard finished to match makes this a truely coordinated tag.
Here’s the easy steps I took to create this tag…..

The base for the tag is cut from a 4 x 6 inch section of the paper from the collection. I’ve nipped off the corners to create the tag shape. Next I adhered it to the cardstock and trimmed to leave a 1/8 inch border. Before adding more layers I like to add the twine to the top. Now this tag can be added to a package or used as decor.

Using craft foam creates the spacer between the layers. The second patterned paper is that gorgeous plaid!  Don’t forget the matting.

The recipe paper is cut to fit the width of the plaid . The little tag at the top was cut from the excess and finished off with a metal eyelet and more twine A chipboard medallion is the first bulky embellishment and it helps to anchor the rest of the layers. It’s got a vintagy gold embossing powder that’s heat set to give it a slightly shiny appearance.

A pretty little die cut doily comes in next. That crisp white really brightens up the arrangement. At the bottom of the tag I’ve added more altered chipboard. This time in a flourish to fill in the space next to the flowers.

This scalloped edge die cut has a bit of Stickles and a sweet little clip. Our retro party planner is next. She’s fussy cut from one of the journal cards with a 1/8 inch border left around her to make her easier to cut out.

Flower arrangements for the top and bottom of the tag because everything is better with flowers.
I’m crazy about chevron ribbon and I think this matches perfectly! A poofy bow topped with twine and a button. Last but not least a small scattering of sequins.
I hope this inspires you to create tags to match your cards . It’s an extra little gifty or party decor from supplies you already had out!
Wishing everyone a happy and productive day : ) Ginny

Tea Time Cards for BoBunny with Video Tutorial

Standard

Hello there crafty friends and BoBunny fans! I’m really excited to share my first project with  Early Bird. This collection is full of sweet florals, vintagy images, and loads of cut aparts.  This time of year I really think we need spring inspired collections to ease the transition between seasons. Winter is over thankfully but the Summer holidays are still not quite here yet.

I’ve created 2 cards with a similar but different look since I had the collection out and all the fun embellishments.Tea Time Spring Inspired Card Polly's Paper Studio 01

I feel like this is going to be my favorite color combination this year. Soft blues and greens look so dreamy when layered up and mixed with florals.

Adding a border of coordinating cardstock matting helps to keep the patterns from looking busy.Tea Time Spring Inspired Card Polly's Paper Studio 04

Spacers between the layers adds loads of depth and also gives the cards a nice weighty feel.

These cards are basically the same but with a slightly different base layer, and patterned papers. Might as well make two if you have the collections out right?Wonderful Spring inspired Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 01

To add a little different style to this card I turned it on it’s side and added 2 bows topped with twine and Double Dot Brads,Wonderful Spring inspired Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 03

Don’t forget you can add spacers to the backs of the CardStock Stickers too so they will be a dimensional accent.Wonderful Spring inspired Greeting Card Polly's Paper Studio 02

To ensure that more of the beautiful doily cut from crisp white cardstock and the Mandala die was visible I clipped it in half so I could push them to the edges of the card ensuring that they won’t be covered by the following layers.

I love to add a little bling to my projects and the Double Dot Jewels are always a perfect match!

Celebrate Your Independence Greeting Card

Standard

Well hello there friends and crafty peeps! Happy Sunday you all. I’m in the full swing of preparing for the summer holiday season and adding GSL chippies to my projects takes them to a whole nother level of awesome!

This is very Americana inspired with loads of fun and festive embellishments!

The window frame is topped with stars and flowers and added a layer of velum for a frosted look.

The altered stars really help to fill in the arrangements. I’ve also tucked in some metal flourishes and epoxy topped stickers.

The window has a crackle finish for a very vintagy look.

More flowers and stars for this corner and a scattering of sequins for a bit of sparkle.

a little printed burlap tucked under the sentiment and a fussy cut bunting to finish off this oh so patriotic card!

I wiped the chippie off to prepare it for finishing then applied a coat of chocolaty brown acrylic paint and let dry.

Next I added a layer of crackle medium and allowed that to dry also. Last but not least was applying a coat of white paint being careful not to brush too much and disturb the crackles.

The stars are easy peasy to finish with metallic silver paint.  On the finished project I added a bit of Stickles to the stars for accent.
