Thank You Tag

Hey there Peeps. It’s a bit like Christmas to receive these fabulous treats.

Pocket Folio You’re a Hoot

Hey there Peeps! Well I’m here today to admit that I have a problem. I am a chronic list writer. Any little scrap of paper is fair game to scribble on. Is the list the problem? Nope. Losing the lists is the problem. When you write important information on something that looks like trash…..guess what’s gonna happen? Yep you got it…lost lists.  So I created a hardcover pocket folio to tuck in all those precious little scraps.

Spring Banner with G45 Children’s Hour

I was inspired to create a banner by the gorgeous vintage images and patterned papers from Children’s Hour.  The May selections were just so springy and paired with the chocolate colored patterns from the 6×6 paper pad the bright colors just pop right out!  I did some experimenting with the spays and gauze to create a background for the die cut frames. I wanted it to look like burlap and I think it turned out pretty great…even if I did spray my hand and the table! I added a little eyelash yarn to soften the edges and it also gives a great amount of texture.  The keys were finished with a light coat of Gesso to help them stand out and tied on with ribbon and buttons.

New Challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon Celebrate

Hey there Peeps. We’re starting a new challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon with a Celebrate Theme.  So that’s like pretty great! I created a You Are Amazing Card to celebrate being awesome! There are gorgeous fairies with glittery wings, fussy cut and dimensional flowers, die cuts and doilies, a sweet metal charm and I used lots of spacers between the layers for dimensional. The card is finished inside with coordinating paper patterns.

Love is in the Air Heart Canvas

Hey there Paper Peeps!  Thursday is quickly becoming my favorite day because my sweet friend Barbara and I take over the Gypsy Soul blog and share our projects using the fabulous chippies from GSL.   Today I’m showing a mixed media canvas inspired by my BOLB Kathy who encouraged me to work on a creation for a challenge.   I really love how it turned out. That being said….there were a few times in the process that I thought the only reasonable course of action would be to swear at it..throw it on the floor and stomp on it.  I think we all go through that sometimes with projects right?
Anyhoo enough of my blathering and on to the canvas….

Love Canvas 1

I started with a canvas and some pretty non-traditional colors and of course my big ol pile of chippies!

Love Canvas 2

Since I knew I wanted to layer a fair amount of chippies I kept those neutral so they would pop off the darker background. These flowers were actually hand painted to match at 4 am since the craft store isn’t open then to get ones that coordinated.

Love Canvas 3

The background was color washed then layered with texture paste and a damask stencil.

Love Canvas 4

To create a lot of dimension and build up the layers I used some drywall tape that has a crinkly torn edge and a similar color wash….. then stamped with an itty bitty script.

Love Canvas 5

I’m using the large frame to anchor the focal point which is a heart clipped from Valentine paper then finished with Gelatos and archival inks.  The butterfly chippie is centered on the heart and topped off with a large key ornament…more hand painted flowers and the Love sentiment.

Love Canvas 6

After painting the chippie gears I tucked them in with the dimensional flowers to lighten it up and to draw the eye to the bottom corner.

Hey there Peeps!   I’m sharing a masculine card today created with Cityscapes from Graphic 45.  This new line  has some fabulous subway style sentiments that can be layered over the richly  colored paper patterns. I’ve chosen a subtle architectural pattern and paired it with a graphic stripe for this card.

Birthday Card for a Special Friend

Hey there Paper Peeps!  Ginny here to share a very special card I created for my dear friend and crafty conspirator Jennifer.  We go wayyyyyy back to when our kids were little. We actually both have an Alexander (same age now and nearly done with college) and a Jonathan (one year apart and  nearly done with high school.)   So we’ve sat together at  more football practices and band performances and scout meetings than you can count. We even have matching stadium outfits lol. Anyhoo….she’s a very special friend and I’m so glad she had a nice birthday!
