Challenge #8 with Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog

Well hello there Peeps! I hope you are enjoying this lovely Spring morning! I’m dropping in to share that we are beginning  our next challenge over at CHACB!

Challenge # 8 Show Us Some Metal or Glass.

Do you hoard gears, pins, brads, eyelets, frames, and other metal do-dads? Do you have a thing for tiny light bulbs and glass vials? Do junk drawers make you giddy? Do you hang out in office supply stores so you can score funky paperclips? Do bottle caps make you swoon? Dig through your hoard to find something metal or glass (or both) and make a project to share!

Here is my project for challenge # 8. Our very generous sponsors for the month are Really Reasonable Ribbon and Sin City Stamps.

I was feeling in a monochromatic mood for this project so I layered creamy colors with lots of texture to create detail.

IMG_3352I added a sweet little bow made from Ivory Wrinkle Ribbon and Silver Diamonds and Dots Ribbon.  I created these flowers by trimming them from paper and adding lots of ink and tiny beads. The beautiful key is from Graphic 45 Metal Staples. The glass topped stick pins are from Maya Road.

IMG_3354 More handcrafted flowers on the top corner. I used a Spelbinders Die to create that lovely scalloped frame.  For a little extra detail I added the glittery photo corners.

Okay now it’s your turn to create a fabulous project using Metal or Glass and link up to play along in the challenge. Here are the easy to follow RULES and you can link up with us at Craft Hoarders Anonymous Challenge Blog.

Plants In My Yard…..a Beginners Guide

Finally warm enough outside for the plants to start coming in. Here is a brief tour…I do not remember the names of most of these plant-trees. I will refer to them as I call them IRL.

We have a pair of these lovely flowering trees in our front yard. I call them “Bee Food”

Under these trees sound like the revving of motorcycles in the distance…there are hundreds of bees…thankfully I am not afraid of them!

Rabbit Food:

The packaging at the plant store lied….this shrub was only supposed to get to 12 inches across.

IMG_3426No matter how careful you are…..I will attack you with my thorns shrub:

The ” I can’t remember if I planted these…or are they weeds???”

The reason we have sooo many deer in our yard:

The “You better enjoy them while they last flowering tree…one good wind or rain storm and it’s about to snow pink petals up in here!”

The “Shouldn’t these be bigger by now bushes”

Whole lotta purply flowers:

Whole lotta lavender flowers:

Patriotic Americana Frame Tutorial

Hey there Paper Peeps! I’m here today to share a great tutorial on how I created this Vintage Americana Frame:

IMG_3362I started with a purchased frame.  I really like that the sections were deep so I could add goodies. I went ahead and added patterned paper to the background and inked the edges.

IMG_3355Then add a few strips of patterned paper to two of the sections.

IMG_3356Next add two paper rosettes and a tiny wooden spool with flag images and a dimensional star pick.

IMG_3357Now top off the rosettes with patriotic images and buttons with string.

IMG_3358Center cute little black and white image and add inked glittery photo corners.

IMG_3359Additional images for the bottom right corner.

IMG_3360Another dimensional star pick and black and white image.

IMG_3361Last but not least…..add a big poofy bow Center Stitched Burlap   a USA banner Cherry Baker’s Twine

IMG_3362This is a great little frame to hang or set on a shelf to add to your seasonal decor. I’ve already got mine displayed lol…but then again I am really into Americana : ) Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G

New Challenge at Really Reasonable Ribbon

Hey there Paper Peeps…..we’ve got a great Patriotic and Ribbon Challenge starting this morning at Really Reasonable Ribbon. I am all over that!!! I created a fun little wall hanging to add to my seasonal decor: )

IMG_3347I added the Center Stitch Burlap in red to create a couple of fabby bows and to make a loop to hand it with. For the fun vintage image I printed out my Patriotic Americana Vintage Image collage sheet and layered the image with fun patterned papers and fun embellishments.

vintage americana collage sheetI used an image from the sheet to create the card from my last post too:

IMG_3343Okay now it’s your turn to create a project with a Patriotic theme ….and don’t forget the ribbon! Then you can add your link to play along in the challenge!

Halloween Lantern with Eerie Tale from Graphic 45

Hello there Paper Peeps! I’m very excited today to be sharing my first project using the Eerie Tale Collection from Graphic 45.  I know every time they come out with a new line…I’m all like “yep…that’s my favorite!” But this one is just so awesome!!! So I created a lantern….actually I found the lantern in my basement…..I create a box card and put it in the lantern then added lots of fun and festive details for a spooktacular project!

IMG_3368-001While I was creating the box card…I realized that the existing templates were not going to work…as this box needed to be a fair bit smaller and also the flaps had to be only half the size to open inside the lantern….so I had to do a little  math ( insert slasher music here) it took a few tries….but I did get one that would fit! My good friends Betty and Dawn were hanging with me in the shop so I took the liberty to bounce an idea off Betty…..she said it looked a little like a film strip……so I went with it! Thanks for the inspiration : ) I added more of the “film strips” to create a nice background with some of the postcard images and really fun glittery spiderwebs.

IMG_3371-001I dressed the top of the lantern with a few of the border strips…several stamp image….a lovely large pumpkin trimmed for the paper and a Beware banner. These paper pretties are layered in with fun findings from my stash like these little dimensional pumpkins that are actually just some pods from a potpouri pack.  I had a huge stem of the orange glittery flourishes…..these are the last little tidbits : ( I also added a die cut crow and paper rosette. Those super fabulous bows are made from Circus Dots Ribbon in black from Really Reasonable Ribbon.

IMG_3373I wrapped more of the border strips around the base then filled in the base with a small section of a feather boa. It seemed like a great idea to cut the boa down to the right size. Nope it was a really bad idea to cut into a boa….I will be cleaning up feathers for weeks!!! Every time you try to swipe them up….they scatter further!! But….now that it’s done….I love how it turned out.  The Tim Holtz metal book plate really anchors the front so I could add all the fabby layers behind it. More of the potpoui pumpkins….another rosette and some orangy paper roses and mulberry leaves.

I think this project turned out to be spooktacular….I can’t wait to play with the Eerie Tale paper again!!! Wising you all a happy and productive day with lot’s of time to be creative : ) G

Mother’s Day Card with Botanical Tea from Graphic 45

Well hello there Paper Peeps….what a thrill it was to receive the amazingly awesome Design Team Supply Box from Graphic 45. I am just amazed at their generosity!!!!  I find myself in the “Craft Vortex” this is the place where you don’t want to use any of the supplies because then you wouldn’t have them anymore….and wanting to use it all on one project lol! I started with a Mother’s Day card for my beautiful Mama in Texas.

IMG_3364IMG_3366IMG_3365Supplies I used to create this card:

Patterned papers from Botanical Tea from Graphic 45….Fauna….Love Notes….Botanical Tea…..Sweet Chamomile. I also used a tag from the Tags and Pockets Die Cut Sheet.

To create the beautiful poofy bows I used  Brown Plaid Ribbon  and  Light Blue Chevron Striped Twill from Really Reasonable Ribbon .

I used my Fancy Frames Cricut cartridge to cut out the scrolly frame then topped it of with a coat of Liquid Pearls in Bisq and sprinkled on a generous amount of Martha Stewart fine glitter.   Everything also got a good inking with Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap Distress Ink. Oh and Stickels because you always have to have something sparkly right???

Okay I’m off to the shop to finish the card for my MIL.  And maybe break into the Halloween paper????? Yeah I know I’m weird that way : ) Wishing you all a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative : ) G
